Blacked out device. Won’t turn on

Last night, iOS 26.3 update was automatically installed on my iPhone 17 Pro Max. Now I have a bricked device and I have to get my phone completely replaced. I can’t force restart it, the screen is completely black and the device won’t turn on at all.

You suggest you tried a Force Restart. Did you:

  1. Press and quickly release the volume up button
  2. Then immediately press and quickly release the volume down button
  3. Then press and KEEP HOLDING the side power button and KEEP HOLDING it for up to 30 or more seconds, and don't let go until you see the Apple Logo?

People often don't hold the side power button long enough, so don't LET GO until you see the Apple Logo.

If that doesn't work, then go to your closest Apple Store Genius Bar.

Do you have access to a Mac or PC? If so, you can try a restore by plugging into your computer. Do you need assistance with setting it up?
