People keep suggesting that turning off Siri fixes the problem but for many people this isn't working. I turned off Siri a month ago and now I have the exact same problem with voice control
Activating randomly... like whenever I move my phone with headphones in. My podcasts also speed up and slow down or stop playing randomly.... this only happens when I listen to podcasts which ***** because I listen to them every day on my walks.... I've tried 3 different pairs of headphones so the only thing I can think of now is maybe the wires are loose in all 3? This is getting ridiculous... i also can't believe that someone from Apple hasn't chimed in yet with a solution as I believe this thread started in 2013.
Hope I remember correctly.
1. Go to Settings, then General.
2. Turn on Siri. This will turn off voice control.
3. Go to Passcode access (still under general). Set a password, if you haven't already.
4. Still under passcode settings, see "Allow access when locked." Set Siri to "Off."
I have purchased VPN software for a friend in China. The one I got was Astrill, which is $59 a year. He can now get Youtube, NY Times, etc.
Hi there.
This voice control feature is a nightmare to disable, I have the i phone 4 however after some searching I found this: -
Settings - general- turn pass lock on - turn voice dial to off- reply with message off - require pass code immediately.
When the screen is locked and requires the password the voice control can still be accidentally activated but no voice dialling can be made. The message will be " voice dialling disabled"
I have found that this does work but only if you go back to your locked screen.
So " lock that sucker down" lol.
Jerseybeanr.
After cleaning the charging slot on the iPhone it stopped doing the ghost-activated voice control.
There was schmutz in there shorting out the contacts which made the phone think I was holding a button down.

Try this: (iOS 7)
Next:
I hope that helps.
I have the same problem Siri from is taking over so I disabled it then Voice control take over despite voice dialing is disabled . Updated my phone 5 to IOS 7.02 but the problem persist. Started to delete the Apps that I have from the App store but the problem is still presisting.
I am shocked that this happening to so many people and Apple is sitting on the side line and still wants us to belive that they afre making quality product.
It seems the only answer is to replace my iphone 5 with for Samasung Android .
Same thing is happening to me. Whenever I'm at the gym I can't even put it in my pocket if it has headphones. And no it's not the case.
My iPhone 5 on ios7 is basically a paperweight with Siri activating all the time.
It is so intermittent so you have to try something and wait to see if it works. My two cents are a dirty lightning port or something near there or the software(probably software) I will clean it and give it a shot. There was some pocket lint that was cleaned out but Siri came back. I will try the headphone jack next.
All I know is this never happened to my multiple BlackBerry phones.
I have the same problem. Tried cleaning the contacts. No change.
Siri is off in the settings, voice control starts without any prompts, and then phones out!
Apple needs to address this problem urgently!
I started having this issue with the new iPhone 5S as well. SIRI randomly starting while at the gym. So i decided to experiment. I used the Apple headset instead of the ones that I was using. I had no issues whatsoever.
The next day I used my non-apple headset, and I experienced the same issue with Siri. It seems that Siri or the headset is extra sensitive or maybe there is a technical fault that sends a signal to the phone to activate Siri. I'm going to the Apple store this morning to get a new pair to see if this addresses the issue.
So far i can't say I can confirm this, but I believe the headset here might be the culprit.
Cheers,
rK
My problem is not related to headphones as I don't use them.
Does anybody have any ideas?
Cleaning the charging connector fixed my problem. (iPhone 4s)

TThis is a hardware problem caused by the home button. I have just had the button replaced, problem solved !!!
Same thing with my iphone 5, had the home button replaced by Apple, it was good for a few days but started again....
This only happens when I plug my phone in, and it goes crazy with the Voice Control. I suspect you are correct, what did you use to clean the lighting slot/port. I do not want to clean it and have Apple void my warrenty. I have an appointment at the store to get the phone looked at. When I unplug the phone it works fine, but it is very difficult to use when it is plugged in.
This only happens when the phone is charging, car, computer, outlet.
Voice control self-activates on my 5s when I have headphones on. No always but often enough that its driving me nuts. so I find this group which has OVER 55,000 VIEWS and Apple has not fixed this yet?? ðŸ˜
have others found that replacing the home button solved the problem? this is ridiculous!!!
