hi, I’ve been using Apple Watch for a few years now. I’ve recently had to swap to my old phone after some unexpected damage. After this swap I had to pair my watch to my phone. In the process I had to reset it. Prior to my phone being damaged I had installed watchOS 8.8.2, now my watch is refusing to install any apps! Can anyone help?

I contacted Apple Support on 4/14 and they said this is a bug in the software and the engineers are currently looking into a fix for it. Expect a software update or fix within the next week. I will update everyone on Monday 4/20 with the update from support.
Don't waste your time trying to reset, unpair etc..
The occasional, albeit brief, shutdowns have stopped, and it's now working stably again, just like before.

if you are not running IOS 26.4.1 do not complain. It was fixed in this update.
How do I get the .1 update? My watch is saying no updates with 26.4
I’m running 26.4.1 and still having this issue. Updated both my phone and watch.
