Prepaid Visa cards not adding to Apple Wallet

OK, well that explains a little more. Tremendous is a rewards and payouts platform, not a bank. Its Visa branded products are prepaid debit cards. Tremendous handles distribution and program administration rather than acting as the card issuing financial institution. Tremendous has nothing to do with adding the virtual card to Apple Wallet. The bank that issues the virtual card is blocking the provisioning of the card.

Apple doesn’t actively participate in approving the card being added. The decision to add a card is made by both Visa (payment network) and the issuing bank, which I suspect is Sutton bank. You’d have to work with the issuing bank’s support team to resolve the issue. The process of adding a card (provisioning) is anonymous to Apple.

If you look at the back of the card, perhaps in small print, near the bottom of the card, there should be a bank named and a phone number. Who is the bank? Is it Sutton Bank?

If they can’t (or won’t) — while not really too surprising given their business model — you should consider taking your business to another issuer.

However, you can always start a “ticket” with Official Apple Support

Thanks for the additional information. Is there an activation process for the prepaid card? My wife occasionally gets a card for completing a survey etc. Some of the cards require an activation before they can be added to her Apple Wallet app.

Not going to happen to happen. You are not communicating with Apple in these user-to-user forums. No one here works for Apple. We are all just fellow users like yourself. Not all cards support being added to ApplePay.

It’s a business decision made by the card issuer. (as there are costs involved)

Contact the issuer to verify if this is indeed the case.

Contact your bank or card issuer if you see the following error messages while adding your card to Apple Wallet:

• Could Not Add Card
• Invalid Card
• Card Device Limit

Hi, are you in the US? If not, what country are you in?

I saw a few discussions yesterday mentioning an issue similar to yours. I’m not seeing any issues on Apple’s side (Apple - Support - System Status), though. Could you try again today to see if the issue was temporary?

If I had to guess, the issuer (Sutton Bank?) no longer wants their cards added to electronic wallets. The bank pays a fee to the Wallet provider (Apple, Google etc.) and while it’s not much, when issuing millions of cards it adds up.

I wonder if it’s a geographic block? Some banks only approve adding the card if you’re in the country of issue.

You stated you added the card to a friend’s device. Is your friend’s device and iPhone? Is your friend also in Canada?
