iPhone battery drains significantly after 26.5.1 update

Hello - So after the 26.5.1 update, my battery life is gone downhill. Usually, I’ll have 50 or above 50% by the end of the day with regular usage. But now by 2, I’m down to 60%, and if I don’t charge my phone, I’ll be down to 15% or even less by the end of the day. I have 3 hours and 24 minutes of screen on time right now, and it’s 60% battery.

Facebook: 49m

Safari: 23m

Instagram: 28m

Messages: 27m

Costco: 17m and so on

I don’t play any games on my phone. While I was typing this post, I lost 2%. I don’t think this is normal, and I was a lot better before the update. I did do the cache clear (Vol up and down dance). I removed a bunch of unused apps. I’m running at 40% brightness, maybe. I listen to audiobooks, but that’s usually after like 6 p.m. Battery health is normal with a maximum capacity of 99% with 239 cycles.

To visualize the rate of drop, post the screenshot of Settings > Battery > View All Battery Usage that includes the 2 battery graphs and the top 5 apps that are consuming the battery.

If it has not been longer than the 4 days where you are expected to see increased Battery drain, heat, and lag with the new files being indexed in the background, then you should wait until after that time. The Apple Support Article that details what you should expect after a software update is detailed below. That is why we see the same posts about battery drain after every update.

Screen Time is a poor metric to use when considering battery drain, as it does not take into account Background Processes performed by some apps, even when the phone is not being used.

Yes, that’s why I waited for a week before posted here. I didn’t see any background app that taking up a lot of usage. But here is the screenshot

Test for a day by removing the Facebook app. Showing 17% Battery drain for only 50 minutes of using the Facebook app is excessive. You can always use Facebook on the web during that test day without the same battery draining.of the app.

Selecting the day before in the blue battery graph will show you a full day of battery usage for a more complete picture of app usage.

The measure of battery health deterioration/drainage is subjective and can vary depending on individual usage patterns. There is no universal standard to determine whether the battery health deterioration/drainage is normal or abnormal because it heavily relies on how the battery is used and maintained.
