iPhone 17: Red bubble on settings icon won’t go away

I recently got a new iPhone 17 and transferred everything from my previous iPhone using sync. This all worked fine, but for some reason the phone thinks the sync was never completed and shows a red bubble on the settings icon that won't go away until I finish syncing, which I can't do because I no longer have the old phone.

Is there a way to make that notification disappear and/or convince the phone that it doesn't need to finish syncing?

I did chat with support. They had me sign out of my phone and back in, and then try to follow the notification steps. This time it gave me the option to send a code to another Apple device, which it did not do previously, and I was able to sync my phone to my iPad which made the notification bubble go away. Kinda strange but it did the trick.
