iOS 27 CarPlay not working after update on 2 different iPhones, that worked perfectly before the update.

I have solved this problem in Settings - Appearance - Setting Display and switch from Bigger Text to Default. Afterward CarPlay is working, even if I sett the Bigger Text back.

We can not guess what you have or haven't yet tried

Eg: The firmware on the vehicle's stereo / infotainment system may need updating to remain compatible with your iPhones. The vehicles manual may provide info. on how to update the firmware, (or the dealer's support / help website may)

As Apple users, just as you are, we don't get to see what feedback / bug-reports etc. are sent to Apple. Unless others reply here directly with a similar issue, we have no way of knowing for sure.

Update…sort of. I got it to connect. It only works the first time I plug it in. If I disconnect and try to connect again it will no longer recognize my phone. My work around to that is if I restart my multimedia display and plug my phone back in, it works. Stupid workaround but, it’s all I got for now until they release an iOS update that fixes CarPlay compatibility.

Seems relying on Artificial Intelligence for correct answers is not always productive.

Have you checked for firmware updates from the car manufacturer ... the stereo / infotainment system needs to be kept compatible with the iPhone and iOS. Your vehicle manual (or the manufacturer's "help / support" website) may have info. on firmware updates for your vehicle make and model.

If you still suspect a bug (seems not everyone has issues after updating to iOS27): Let Apple know ... the more feedback Apple receives on an issue, the more likely an update to fix it will be released.

I just upgraded from an IP16PM to an IP18PM. When I connected the new phone to my car, it failed to connect to my 2019 Honda CRV, which has wired CarPlay (not wireless). Something about "Device not responding" appeared on the screen. I could see the phone was charging fine, so the cable should be good.

I looked around the net and found one note saying to check the Settings>WiFi and make sure Connectivity Assist was off. When I checked, mine was on by default.

I then cleared any old references to the car on the phone, and removed all phones from the car.

Connected it using the same old cable that worked before for the 16, and it connected just like new.

Hope this helps anyone else, and I hope it works for you.

Update: I had to turn off VPN, which I absolutely should not have to do. Apple needs to fix this.

Fixed.

I used the original Apple USB C cable and a UGreen USB C to USB A adapter.

Wired and wireless, different cables, iPhone 13 and 16 Pro, reset all network connections, hard reset on car "radio", deleted CarPlay profiles. Friend tried his phone still on iOS26 and it connected fine and was much more responsive to any action, especially SIRI.

You will find that downgrading back to iOS 26 is not possible. Apple stops signing the previous version and makes it impossible to downgrade. Downgrading has never been supported by Apple to this day.

Better to do some troubleshooting instead...

Is your connection wireless or cabled? If wireless try connecting with a UBS cable and test.

Hi. I'm also having the same issue: after updating to iOS 27.0, my iPhone doesn't connect to my car's infotainment via CarPlay. Where is the problem?

It seems to be a Wi-Fi issue. When I pair the iPhone with the car, everything works. The problem occurs when I connect to my home Wi-Fi and then want to drive somewhere. In that case, the car and iPhone won't reconnect, and I have to reset the network settings and re-pair the iPhone with the car again.

To put it briefly: everything works fine until you connect to another Wi-Fi network. So, the bug is likely in the iOS 27 update.

Just for context: my iPhone is a 16e, and the car is a 2026 Suzuki Swift.

Got the iPhone 18 Pro, had to upgrade to iOS 27 when turning it on and eventually spent 2 hours trying to make it work with my 2021 Volkswagen Tiguan. Re-did the connection a lot of times. The connection is established, but the phone will not connect. Had no issues with my previous iPhone with iOS 26.

Talked to a friend at a wedding over the weekend, he says his CarPlay does not work either on 17 Pro after iOS 27 upgrade - no issues before.

How do you know it’s an Apple TV problem? My 2024 Chevrolet Traverse recently received a software update from GM stating improved Car Play connectivity. Car play works perfectly well with iOS 27 and my Chevy. So have you checked with your dealer to see if there’s an update for your car?

This only works for certain people. I tried every troubleshooting method there is and it still didn’t work haha. Apple needs to release an iOS update to fix CarPlay compatibility. We shouldn’t have to be doing all this extra nonsense, spending money on random cables for testing, etc.

I’m having the same issue! I just upgraded from an iPhone 15 Pro Max to the new iPhone 18 Pro Max with iOS 27. I’ve had nothing but problems with my Toyota CarPlay. It worked this morning and now it won’t reconnect at all anymore. I’m tired of seeing posts saying check the cables, it’s definitely not a cable issue. It’s an iOS 27 problem. They need to hurry up and fix this problem asap, I need my gps for work every day. I’ve tried resetting network settings, I’ve tried forgetting my car on the phone, I’ve tried different cables, my car doesn’t have any new updates, I’ve turned off wireless connectivity assist, etc. it’s iOS 27 for sure.
