iTunes 10 breaks Firefly Media Server / mt-daapd

As mentioned, I tried forked-daapd and it works nicely (and the package is available in Debian testing).

If I can't go forward, how do I go back? I would rather be able to listen to my music than to be able to ping it.

As stated earlier in the thread forked-daapd works great on Gentoo (and it's developer has a package for Debian). So, give it a shot if your willing to try new things!

Same problem here on Synology DS1010+

iTunes 10 on iMac sees server but doesn't display any of the songs in the server. Latest iTunes 9 on MBP shows my library on server in tact (plays, etc).

I have Firefly Media Server running on Ubuntu 10.04.1 and also have a D-Link DNS 321, both servers are showing up in the list, but no music gets listed. Problem started after iTunes 10 update.

From what it seems this is and has nothing to do with how the data is stored but how its being stored and apparently updating that file fixes the issue. I have yet to do this.

Indeed, a ebuild is available on Gentoo for forked-daapd but it's a testing one and it didni't work for me without some modifications (db folder creation for example).

But at the end, forked-daapd works fine with iTunes 10.

Same problem on a Qnap 209 pro II, have work and still work on itunes 9. A blanck list on i tunes 10.

Same here, on MacBook and Win7. Ituns server Synolgy DS209 and also LG-NAS N1T1.

Back to 9... were?

Have the same problem. Have a synology and iTunes does not detect any music on it.

Could you say what modifications you had to do?

Thanks for that Information. Looks like I will not upgrade, as I'm also using Firefly / daap svn-1586.

Hopefully this is just a bug in iTunes ann not purpose or feature of Version 10.

If someone finds a solution or even a note from Apple concerning this Problem, please post it.

Same problem here in QNAP 809Pro, and a ReadyNAS NV+

I've had a Mac for two years and this is the first time I have been genuinely POed at Apple. It's not that iTunes broke DAAP support; it's that there is not any readily apparent way to downgrade to the prior version of iTunes unless you happen to have kept the DMG file (though I think the most recent version of iTunes was pushed out through Software Update, so no luck there).

I'm using VortexBox to serve the music, so using the fork of mt-daap is not an option unless I am willing to risk breaking VortexBox.

All of this to say that *if you are looking for a DAAP-compatible player in the interim, XBMC ( http://sourceforge.net/projects/xbmc/) appears to do the trick*. Its interface is horribly clunky, but I could not find any other player with a Mac-compatible DAAP plugin. Banshee and Songbird are DAAP compatible, but, unfortunately, not in their Mac incarnations.

I am disappointed in Apple.
