Taken within the context of this forum yes, you directly stated that ATV can't view Hulu video because it doesn't have a browser or Flash. To be correct, ATV can't play Hulu content because Apple TV doesn't have support to play it. A browser is not required. PS3 can play it's content but doesn't use a browser to do so. Browser or flash has absolutely nothing to do with hulu support. A new update from Apple does however. Which, lots of people are hoping for. So to answer the original poster directly, no ATV does not currreny support Hulu, but is possible with an update pending Hulu licensing.

You can watch huluplus on an iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. Technically I don't see why huluplus would not be able to be presented over one of the new appletv's. I for one would hope huluplus would be available through the new appletv as well as the already announced Netflix support and I'm hoping (haven't comfirmed yet) that you can still stream audio/video files from iTunes to your new AppleTV as you currently can with the legacy AppleTV. I have 1.2TB of media (mostly tv shows and films) that once I get another AppleTV again that I can continue watching them on television as I once did except this time with netflix+(maybe huluplus) in one place. To take a pun from the Lord of the Rings, one device to rule them all.

I'm not sure why you remain confused over my one-sentence comment, the point of which was that the new ATV will not be able to play Hulu upon release. It could play Hulu if it had a Flash enabled browser, or it could play Hulu if it had an iOS app for it, or it could play Hulu if it had embedded software for it, but it will have none of those upon its initial release, thus won't be able to play Hulu. Understand?

I think the only reason Apple added Netflix was because they 'had' to in order to sell more units. I still believe Netflix will rule the video streaming market.

Tough business plan for Apple to crack with NetFlix, Blockbuster, Amazon etc. It really comes down to "How much video can a person watch?" We're already a nation of couch potatoes.

It's already available on iPhone, Touch and iPad so the competition argument against Hulu on Apple TV isn't valid. Hulu Plus with lots of TV episodes costs $10 per month, not free, so people will have a choice to pay Apple .99 for an occasional tv show they missed or $10 per month as a, perhaps, cable tv replacement. They need to compete with the other devices, like Roku, out there so I anticipate them adding all the services they need to be attractive to buyers.

unless 18 months down the road Apple decides to call it a hobby like the last one, thereby relieving themselve's of any perceived obligations to compete in this space once again.

I am very disappointed this new Apple TV device doesn't allow for the free version of HULU or even ABC or CBS... So now, I still have to connect my laptop to my TV to watch network shows after airing day... The device is nice and the resolution is excellent. But this limit really *****... We know this is about money but who wants to pay 99 cents for a TV show when we know how to watch it for free... In this economy, give us a break Steve. at least allow those of us who know it is there to watch it. And a Hulu plus is not acceptable.. There is no "power consumption" issue with the Apple TV... I love my Apple products but these kind of limits makes it harder to get wives to buy into getting another gadget.

I have the new Apple TV and I love it...EXCEPT that I have to go over to my macbook to watch my Hulu episodes and there is no way to add your own links for podcasts/rss. Otherwise it is perfect and blows away Sony's Google TV which lasted in my house about 4hrs before I took it back to Best Buy. What a terrible implementation!!!

I am now willing to PAY for Hulu Plus if I can get it. Whether I pay PLAYON.TV or APPLE for the APP...I don't care..but Apple TV is useless for me without Netflix and Hulu....both of which my Wii handles fine 😉
