I still believe Netflix will rule the video streaming market.

If by ruling the streaming market you mean providing instant access to has-been "blockbuster" films of the 1970's and 80's, cherry picked current films, and straight-to-DVD movies no one has ever heard of.... then you may be right. And while it's not necessarily Netflix's fault for their deplorable selection of streaming content, they are not the ruler over anything besides a useless collection of movies that they have permission to stream over the interwebz.

I'd like to add some "other" color to this topic as well. I just purchased a new 42" Vizio LCD TV that supported their VIA Apps like Netflix, Pandora, etc. I still have my Mac Book Pro connected to the TV via an RGB cable, so that I can watch HULU, and I'm considering getting an Apple TV so that I can stream the iTunes video content that I have.

Suffice it to say, this is EXACTLY where I want this trend to move. Streaming content to Intelligent devices -> Phones, Tablets, TVs. My biggest challenge is that I don't want 10 devices hooked up to my wall mounted Television. The fact that this one has 802.11n wireless and supports streaming from NetFlix, and others, will enable me to "dump" DVD/Blue-ray players, computers, and other devices that are "connected" to it (including the cable company!) The only thing that should be connected is some Audio enhancement device. The Sound Bar's are getting there.

Vizio has announced that they will support HULU with a S/W upgrade in the future, and that's great. If Apple did it as well with AppleTV, it would make a lot of sense and make the product more attractive. It also makes sense that AppleTV would operate like an iPod/Phone/Pad device and could easily support Apps that run on those other Internet enabled devices.

Having a Television run an OS like iOS, Android, or Yahoo's (e.g. VIA) is the right solution. It creates an truley internet enabled appliance.

The only thing stopping me from buying two AppleTVs is the fact that Hulu is not an option on them.

First there were Netflix nitwits (the ranks of which I have since joined), and now there are Hulu hooligans. I can't imagine why anyone would be clamoring for Hulu unless they are fond of frequent buffering and annoying commercial interruptions.

In any case, Apple could add Hulu to the ATV2 with a software update, but that would require an agreement between Apple and Hulu, and that is the reason why it isn't currently supported. NBC has been forced to give up its seats on the Hulu board as a condition of its takeover by Comcast, so it will be interesting to see what direction it takes as a result.

...I wouldn't be surprised if they open up the App Store to it and make things like games and various apps available, including something for Hulu.

They could add Hulu with a software update, but games are a complicated problem because iOS games are written for touch screen control, which is not possible with an ATV.

Where I hear you about a bit of stuttering and buffering and commercial annoyance, $8/mo for much of the desirable "current" TV content is much more attractive than ~$35 - ~$60 for cable TV, which I currently don't have.

It already pains me to pay $55/mo for Internet access, but this pain is eased some by not paying for cable and accessing Internet content on my TV via my MBP.

If Hulu were added to Apple TV today, I would buy an Apple TV today. I may likely buy an ATV in the near future anyway. With the advent of AirPlay as well as the Remote app for iOS, my iPhone would integrate very nicely with an ATV without having to add extra remotes and limited additional cabling. It's a pretty elegant integrated solution to get Internet and media content from my computer or phone to the TV without having to plug either into the TV directly. It's one of the reasons why an ATV is more attractive to me than a Roku or Internet capable Blu-ray (despite not owning any Blu-ray discs nor plans to buy or rent any).

I've tried both Hulu Plus and Netflix and I think Netflix is much better. It streams more reliably, has better video quality on my Mac mini, and no annoying commercial interruptions, which are inexcusable on a subscription plan.

The other problem with Hulu is that it is entering into a state of transition that could result in a very different service than the one they are currently offering. Hulu as you know it now may not be around for much longer.

You must have a smaller TV. Netflix movies look like crap on 1080p 65" television. There are HD movies on there that look fine, but 9 times out of 10 you have to deal with crappy images and washed out colors. I hope Hulu is better with HD content. And ... Netflix has absolutely none of the new shows. Hulu has more up to date content than Netflix. Sure it has commercials, but thats better than not being able to watch the new shows at all with Netflix. Crappy quality on larger televisions plus older content means Netflix ***** for me.
