iTunes 10 keeps freezing. Please help.

iTunes 10 freezes. Quicktime keeps telling me I need to update.
Apple is losing its edge!
This is really starting to tick me off.
Does Apple have any solutions yet?

Anyone know if this is fixed in the latest version?

Afraid not, and it took 2 hours to update my 22K+ track library.

At least I backed it up this time.

And my music is stored on a network accessible drive also, Am I seeing a pattern here?

At the risk of of being repetitive, mine too is freezing every half hour or so, pretty much not usable to be honest.......

I've got a similar problems but not so bad as some of the other postings. iTunes 10.0.1 works fine until my new iPhone4 is connected then any action to do with Devices - such checking or unchecking any option - causes iTunes to go into spinning wheel mode for about 5 seconds. Previously with an iTouch and earlier versions of iTunes it all worked seamlessly. I feel like I'm back in PC world again.

Any solutions?

my itunes 10 keeps freezing after about 5mins. its soooo painful. itunes 11 NOW. My shuffle no longer connects just blinks orange, my iphone vibrate function is going crazy and now my itunes is freezing. i'm starting to DISLIKE apple a lot.

I seem to be having the same problem. Itunes 10 and 10.0.1 takes a long time scanning through album artwork when my music is stored on a network share.

Same story here. You see, I have an SSD in my MacBook Pro. With an SSD, space is totally at a premium, and there is absolutely no way I need to story my 10 GB iTunes library in RAM. I've been using an external, SAMBA exported, slow-*** disk for my iTunes media for years, and never had a problem. Now it just freezes all the time.

Is this some plot by Apple to discourage the use of samba mounted disks for iTunes?

I am having similar problems, running iTunes 10 for Windows 7 32 bit.

Any attempt to import CD tracks or retrieving track information or even playing tracks results in the program freezing and having to be closed by Task Manager.

I have reinstalled the program twice, no joy.

iTunes keeps locking up my computer. I download a podcast, it gets about halfway through, and then instead of the time decreasing til it is finished, it starts INCREASING. Within a matter of minutes, it tells me I have 2 hours before my podcast will download. Doesn't matter which podcast it is, or how short or long it is. Sometimes I can end the process (Control, Alt, Delete), but most times, I have to turn the entire PC off. Everything is frozen.

Getting worse....now I cannot use iTunes at all.

it turns out it was because my pc is 64bit. download itunes fo 64bit machines and it will work better.
shuffle still refuses to connect though

Installed the 64 bit version of Itunes. It actually worked ok for a couple of weeks. But now..its back to freezing. The itunes problem, problem syncing phone and shuffle issue makes me think Apple products are super unreliable. Over them.

Same issues here, Win 7 64 bit. I dont care about the music aspect of iTunes (I have Zune Player and it is much beeter then iTunes + iPod, pad, phone etc) but mustsync my iPhone with Outlook daily.

Why is nobody from Apple jumping on this ?

Once my contract is up with AT&T I am jumping from the Apple ship....

I also had this problem with iTunes 9 before installing iTunes 10. I am not trying to do anything more complicated than just play a song from my iTunes library. I am not connected to a network or device. The symptoms I get are either no sound but timebar moving or a total freeze, and I also get a 'popping' sound. I wondered if the problem could be my machine as I get the same problem with Garageband? I really need some help as I need the machine for work and I can't even rely on it to play a song. It is really annoying and it is making me regret the decision to go for a Macbook and not a Windows based notebook.
