Seems rather odd.

A video basically becomes a song, with the first frame as the cover art.

Im not sure how Apple does things but if the Ipod decodes the video to get its cover art it doesnt seem too much of a hard thing to get actual video playing.

Unless Itunes decodes the video then adds the cover art seperately.

I do know that videos are stored as m4v files on the Ipod, but this maybe purely to still have an intact video to use at some stage.

Wow, this is a real turn-off... Just bought it, tomorrow in the backseat of a ten-hour drive to Switserland... Was really looking forward to lay back and watch some of my favorite series, just as a did on my old nano... 😟 I hope very much that the next nano version will have video again! Though many people won't use the nano for video I guess... But I was very happy with it. Really easy to watch a quick episode with in the metro for example.

i agree that it *****. i was told by an apple sales person that it DID play video and get home, open it --try it and it does NOT play video. this is so lame. let people decide if they want to watch something at this small size... don't just strip a major feature out of a product and tell them how to use it/later (or misinform them, in my case). not happy with this no-video business AT ALL. 😢 boo!

Acorrding to people on YouTube, the nano 6 software is based on previous software with a iOS STYLE GUI, as he managed to remove the photos icon, if this is true, then all you need to is create a link between the GUI and the iPod os, however as yet I am not sure how to access the internals of the iPod software, when I can I shall confirm and update information said here :-)

the new nano doesn't play video anymore?
