Crackling Noise During Music Playback after iOS 4.1 Update

Hey guys. Play music through my iPhone via USB in my Prius. Music has always been fine, but when i updated to 4.1, then started to play music in my car, i noticed a crackling noise during music playback. I thought maybe the speakers were blown, but there is no such sound when i play music CDs or pandora or anything other than the Mp3s. Is anyone having music playback issues after the 4.1 update???

Well you can't unless you are an apple developer, or at least signed up to their developing program. i made the mistake of trying to load a beta version of iOS4 when it came out and had to sign up and pay $99US for a year long subscription. not the best $99US i've spent but handy to have the beta's.

All the cracking and noise is gone. plus you can stream to airport express's and airplay certified stereo's.

I am having the exact same issue using a Pioneer DEH 3200-UB headunit in my car after I updated to 4.1. I thought it was just me. The iPod keeps stuttering and skipping as if it were an old scratched CD. It only happens through USB connection, works fine through AUX. I am glad to hear the 4.2 supposedly fixes the problem. I was thinking there was a problem with my head unit. Hope Apple released this fix fast!

**TEMPORARY FIX** I have an iPhone 4 running 4.1 and since updating my OS i too have had the skipping issues that have made me want to throw my phone out the window, however if you have a Sat Nav app on your phone all is not lost. Plug you phone in via USB as normal and then start your Sat Nav, you dont have to put any address in just so long as its running and not in the background it must be actively on the screen then your music will play fine without skipping. I appreciate this is not a great solution but it does work and at least your phone is being charged whilst plugged in so it wont drain the battery.

If you have any questions let me know.

Same problem here:-(
iPhone 3GS on iOS 4.1 makes noise using my Onkyo ND-S1 while
the iPod Touch on iOS 4.0.2 works nicely.

Cannot roll back my iPhone since I just got a brand new unit after
having problems with calls being dropped. New hardware seems to have fixed that, but what a side-effect!

I guess Onkyo have paid Apple quite much for having access (license) to the digital port and now Apple just makes it useless.

Onkyo - claim your money back cause I will return the ND-S1 if not fixed soon!

+1

i have a pioneer doubled din v3100, have had it for a year and during that time it acted perfectly with my ipod touch and iphones. i updated my iphone 4 to the 4.1 and now it skips all the time. the only time it acts ok is if im running it with my navi. i will call it "skipping" but it really isnt. the iphone keeps playing the music, it just cuts out. it is almost guaranteed to "skip" during the time of loading the album art on the screen as well. sooooo iritating. and all apple support said was "It must be an issue of the pioneer".....not really buddy.

Hello from Brisbane, Australia. I thought I was going nuts until I came across this discussion. My Itouch stopped working with my Eclipse in-dash unit. Now I understand it is a software problem which Apple are aware of and are in the middle of fixing. At least that is my assumption. Don't take this the wrong way fellow music lovers, but I'm glad I'm not the only one to have this annoying frustrating problem.
