FaceTime unable to activate

I have an iPod touch 4g on which I have been trying to activate FaceTime. Every time I try I get the message "Could no sign in. Please check your network connection and try again." I have tried creating a new account and port forwarding and still can't get it to work. Any suggestions on what else to try?

for me it worked just by changing my date and time settings thanks to you :

FaceTime uses a secure connection so you need to make sure your date and time are correctly set under Settings > General > Date & Time. This should fix the issue on new iPods.

Hope this helps.

I tried changing my DNS but that did not resolve the problem for me. Facetime login was working from mac-book pro connecting through my wireless router but login from ipod was failing through the same wireless router. The network connections worked fine for other apps like safari.

What resolved the issue for me reset of network connection through settings->general->reset

After around 8 frustrating hours of trying to get FaceTime, iMessage and the email working I decided to google it and came across this site and answers. I also made a visit to PC world with no success. I kept entering my apple I'd and password and email and password and it kept saying incorrect or just throwing me back to the beginning to try again. I knew my passwords were right. After tearing my hair out I read the various solutions here and decided to check that the date and time were correct as this had been the problem for a few other people. I knew they were displaying the right time and date but in fact I had unknowingly set the time zone to somewhere in the USA instead of London England when I changed this huuuurahhhh it worked I'm up and running. Thanks apple community support you cracked it!
