Airplay on old Apple TV

Hi. I have a now old apple tv. I was wondering will it support the new ios feature airplay or not? Also will it support the renting tv shows? Thanks.

Thanks for the info on LG.

But I think you should keep your AppleTV and just use it as an attractive coffee warmer. The AppleTV2 just doesn't have that special feature.

haven't tested either.. thought homeshare needed to be turned on for airplay to work but haven't confirmed that..

I don't know how they did it, but RemoteHD works perfectly.

They've done something that Apple have either not bothered with or can't do it themselves. I guess I'll be keeping it a while longer.

you mean I have to purchase a $40 program to get a $3.99 app to work... and a new AppleTV is about $50 more than that?

That app has already been discussed in this thread, and it requires the installation of a hack to work with the ATV1.

I don't believe anyone is saying it couldn't be done. However it would take up resources to implement and on a discontinued model.
