Cracked Glass

Now why would making the phone out of glass be a defect. If you can't keep from dropping the phone then maybe you shouldn't own an iphone in the first place.

Don't be so fast to blame the phone owner here. There have been a number of studies that show the screen is more likely to break on this phone than past models (see Information Week and CIO in October 2010). Years ago I bought the very first Iphone the week it came out and dropped it accidentally numerous times. The case was banged up but the screen never broke and phone worked great for many, many years. We have two Iphones now -- each less than 12 months old -- that have cracked screens -- one from a three inch drop to a wood floor and the other a bit farther but with a case on. There are reports of screens cracking from being in someones pocket and torquing a bit. Although the phones work okay with the cracks, you know that any other problems will be blamed by apple on the cracks. My Mom has a blackberry which has fallen any number of times (old case was too large) and though the battery fell out, the phone (and screen) was fine. No more Iphones for us until the screen issue is fixed or made a warranty repair item.
