Random vibrating

Since the iOS 4.0 upgrade, my phone periodically vibrates for no apparent reason. The battery is charged, I don't have any unchecked texts or emails, and there are no notifications. Has anyone else experienced this issue?

iPhone 3GS, iOS 4

I have same problem. Turned off all notifications. Backed up information to icloud and reset my phone as instructed by genius bar. Still with random vibrate or sound depending on the switch. Went back they gave me new phone thought everything was ok, one week later i am still getting random vibrations. They happen regular mode, in airplane mode, with wireless on or off. Real annoying. Can"t use my phone as an alarm clock because if I keep the sound on I will get random sounds in the middle of the night. Considering Android.

FIX🙂 FIX 🙂FIX 🙂FIX 🙂FIX🙂 FIX 🙂

On your phone, got to Settings, then Sounds, then adjust 1) the VIBRATE setting and 2) the individual SOUND AND VIBRATION PATTERNS. The culprit for me was new emails coming into my Inbox. Bugged me like crazy for three days, then discovered this. It has absolutely nothing to do with the Notifications settings. Apple needs to put everything that makes your phone vibrate/sound off into a single integrated location in the next IOS update. It's truly a human design flaw to hide these kinds of settings in two different places. Just my two bits. This is a problem caused by Apple's IOS Upgrade because it turned these vibration settings on when they were not on before the upgrade. Again, unintended consequences. It's easy to fix. Cheers.

(P.S. Apple has needlessly replaced a lot of Iphones I suspect, because their Geniuses did not even comprehend how this problem got created...)

Same problem for me: iPhone 5, OS7 random vibrations with no notification. I checked settings --> sounds and my new mail and most everything else is "none".

This is what fixed it for me: go to settings / notification center and look at each app. I found two apps with the alert sytle "none" which means when that app has a notification, it will vibrate/sound the phone but will have no other visible notification. For each of those apps, make the alert style either banner or alerts to see which app is causing the vibration, or deselect "show in notification center" to remove the app from notifying you. Problem sovled.
