Message 5555

iTunes 10, Windows 7 X64

Tried to purchase an app and got the following message:

"*We could not complete your iTunes Store request. The iTunes Store is temporarily unavailable. (5555)*

There was an error in the iTunes Store. Please try again later."

Tried downloading directly from my iPhone as well and got a "Cannot connect to iTunes Store" message.

I had a buddy of mine try downloading something on his iTunes and it worked no problem.

I tried de-authorizing my computer but I got the same 5555 message.

I tried logging into my account and got the same 5555 message.

Any ideas?

Alright Folks, This is what fixed it for me. Go into iTunes on your computer (mac or pc, shouldn't matter), click on store --> view my account. Sign in and then after you're in, on the very bottom, click "reset all warnings for buying and downloading music" I then clicked done and it FINALLY got me to the new terms and conditions which I couldn't access on iphone or mac. At that point I was able to update all apps on my computer. Half solved. But when I then tried to download a new app on my phone it sent me into a "you need to authorize your account --> sign in" loop. So I went into Settings on my phone then to app store, clicked view account, and this is where it might very per person. I needed to update my credit card on my phone because I recently had my credit card stolen and though I changed the card on my computer it must not change it on the phone. SOOO I updated the card info, which then let me update the term on my phone. So for those that DON'T need to update their card info, try clicking the terms box and the privacy box and letting it make you update your agreement. Thats what I did and everything is running. Hope it works for you!

Thank you! That fixed it for me. A word of warning to others doing this, when I clicked on done, I got a similar looking error (to the 5555 error). but a different number -- 50 maybe? Not sure, but just ignore it and go ahead and try downloading updates and hopefully it will actually be okay for you as well.
