Genius Sidebar(need it back!!!)

I downloaded the new version of Itunes(Itunes 10.01) and I realized it had Ping. I made a Ping account and then went to check my Genius Sidebar. I saw it was replaced with my Ping Sidebar. I turned off my Ping and it still didn't work. I really want my Genius Sidebar instead of my Ping Side bar. How can I get my Genius Side bar back?

Macbook, Mac OS X (10.6.4)

Will add my support to the list. Apple has generated a fair amount of revenue from me and my use of the Genius side bar. If they want to compete with social sites, use an opt in or opt out method much as was done with the ability for one to turn on or off the Genius side bar.

I appreciate your help. I registered on Ping and i'm finding it quite useful now.:) I think we should be able to switch between the Ping and Genius sidebar. Thanks for your help. I strongly encourage all of you to give Ping a try.

I am so happy my genius sidebar is gone!!! I am going to save a ton of money because I was addicted to buying songs off of that list! Whew, it couldn't have been replaced sooner... I mean I will never look at or participate with Katy Perry on Ping so thank goodness they got rid of the genius sidebar.

Seriously, I want my genius sidebar back!!! PLEASE give me a choice between the genius sidebar and Ping because I ahve no use for Ping but the Genius sidebar led me to so much good music!

I too want the genius sidebar back - enough that i'm going to downgrade iTunes. I hope it doesn't cause issues with my G4 iPod Touch. Removing the genius sidebar is stupidest thing since "New Coke"!

Oh my god! Where's my genius side bar gone? Apple what have you done!!!! This was a great idea and I purchased numerous albums on the back of it. Bring it back PLEASE!!

Please Apple, bring back the Genius Sidebar! It's agreat way for me to easily buy *from your store* music that I don't have.

I don't care if you keep Ping or not (but Ping is useless to me), but bring back one of the greatest selling tools you've ever invented...the Genius Sidebar!

Is it just me or has anyone else noticed the genius sidebar is back?
Well for the most part anyway.. I opened up the genius sidebar today just for kicks. After scrolling down below all the Ping stuff was "Genius Recommendations".
Can you confirm?

It seems you're right. It does seem to be back in a half-assed sort of way. It doesn't work for every song for some reason (it's not because the songs aren't in the iTunes library because they are). I still want the old Genius Sidebar back as an option.

Seems to only work for the song selected rather than the one playing... and whenever a new song starts it basically goes dead until you select another song.

If we spent so much money on your product we would announce in some way that we wanted a social network! but Im sure just about everyone that wanted a social network would go to facebook or myspace where people are naturally going to go for a chat. at Itunes we want music. not an opinion from others. bring back the Geniuse side bar where we can pay you for music we are desperatly looking for!

With the genius sidebar partially returning you can have it fully back by deactivating ping. To do so follow the following instructions. Worked for me:

I didn't try Ping...I didn't even notice it. But I DID notice that the Genius sidebar was missing, which is upsetting to me.

I believe iTunes did this once before. I wrote them an unhappy note and promptly rolled back my computer to get rid of the update (not sure if you can remove the update?).

I can't understand why they remove it!

I also hate the way the new version displays tv programs. There are only 2 options now that I can see--all icons, or all text. Finally, they have lost all of my play information. But these are different topics.
