iPod Touch 4G not detected in iTunes 10.0.1.22 when using Remote App 2.0

I'm guessing Apple's Remote App 2.0 works well for iPhone 4 and iPad, but when I try using it with iPod Touch 4G, it does not show up in devices to enter the passcode.

same wifi network
iTunes 10.0.1.22, Home Sharing On, Library Sharing enabled, Looking for remotes enabled.

iPod Touch 4G (iOS 4.1) (no problems with wifi)
Apple's Remote App 2.0 Home Sharing login works well. Adding Library produces 4 digit passcode.

BUT, again, it does not show up in Devices to have the opportunity to enter the passcode.

iTunes is an approved app in firewall settings.
Win 7 (32bit) Network Detection/Printer&File Sharing is enabled.

Interesting:
When I try to connect to Airport Express with my PC,
I receive "unknown error (-15006)"
Another iMac running iTunes 9 is able to stream music to the airport express without problem.
Using my PC, I'm able to connect to the iMac, and stream music from the iMac to my PC.

When Airport Utility (on PC) is open I can't detect Airport Express (even though the light is solid green.

I'm still guessing iTunes 10.0.1.22 has AirPlay/AirTunes issues, and in general doesn't want to detect any wifi devices.

I haven't yet looked up the error code, but would love to hear some thoughts out there.

Anyone else have similar issues? Are there any fixes?
Please share.
Thanks.

"MIRACLE (or almost) : the remote app connected to MediaMonkey and I could insert the four digits in the appearing dialog. So I thought, "let's try iTunes". MIRACLE : iTunes connected too : the iPod magically appeared under the device section (without being USB connected), and the dialog to enter the digits appeared too."

Holy c *, I think that's the answer. SOLVED?

Like everyone else I couldn't get the remote app to be recognized by iTunes at all, in spite of firewall/router settings, re-installing iTunes, and on and on.

So, I got fed up and installed a different remote-control app called "RemoteX." The RemoteX app worked fine. Then for the **** of it I tried the Apple Remote app again -- and it worked!

Note: "remoteX" involves installing an app on the iPhone/iTouch and a server app on your PC.

So a few months go by, and I installed an iTunes update, which caused the Apple Remote to stop working again.

So, I removed and re-installed the RemoteX server (the app on the PC),
AND NOW THE APPLE REMOTE WORKS -- AGAIN!

Why does this work? I have no freaking idea. Hopefully, this isn't a fluke specific to 2 peoples' machines. (I've certainly solved "bigger" computer problems, but man, this small one was driving me nuts.)

Make sure that you have let it completely through the Windows Firewall. In Windows 7, in the "Allow Program Through Windows Firewall" screen, make sure that "Bonjour Service" has all three boxes checked (one on the left to allow it through, two on the right - one to allow it for Private Networks and one for Public Networks). It's likely that the Private Networks box isn't checked and that's why you can't connect.
