Netflix Problems

Anybody else having this problem? I had no trouble signing into my Netflix account (Instant Queue, recently played, etc...) but when I try to play something on the ATV it takes a long time to load then stops after two or three seconds. I tried this over wi-fi and with ethernet. I do not have particularly fast DSL but I watch Netflix on my Mac all the time with no problems. Also, I had no trouble streaming a movie trailer on the ATV. Just a Netflix bug? Any ideas?

iMac, Mac OS X (10.5.5)

I spoke to Netflix support and they helped me fix this issue.

Solution: Switch from your automatic DNS settings to Google's DNS server. General->Network->Configure TCP/IP->Manual and pick 008.008.008.008.

Now, I was stumped a bit since I have an XBox 360 on the same network with no issues. The support guy said that Apple TV connects to their licensing servers a bit differently so this should fix the issue.

Hi, I am also having issues with getting Netflix to work. Everytime I boot it up on AppleTV, I get the message 'Netflix is currently unavailable. Please try again later.' I have tried rebooting AppleTV, rebooting my router, nada. I tried calling Netflix and Apple for help, nothing.

Very frustrated here. Any thing else you think I should try?

And then what, Karl, do you somehow sign back in? I just tried it, it at least let me into the home page, but hwen i clicked on a program it said "netflix is currently not available, try again later."

I too am having this issue. Can't get anything to play via Netflix, yet other streaming on the device works just fine.

Same problems too! Tried everything i could think of and netflix is a bust. I think it is a silver light problem. Same movie plays fine on my Imac.

Vageli, I agree. If the ATV works fine on the LAN connection then it's got to be something with your WiFi. Sometimes you have to look at the simplest explanation.

Was the modem the same? Also how are your iTunes downloads? I only ask because if its simply just changing a modem/router I am gonna run out and get a new one.

I too am having the same problem with Netflix on my new AppleTV2 where is quits after playing only a couple seconds, I have not have any success yet.
