Netflix Problems

Anybody else having this problem? I had no trouble signing into my Netflix account (Instant Queue, recently played, etc...) but when I try to play something on the ATV it takes a long time to load then stops after two or three seconds. I tried this over wi-fi and with ethernet. I do not have particularly fast DSL but I watch Netflix on my Mac all the time with no problems. Also, I had no trouble streaming a movie trailer on the ATV. Just a Netflix bug? Any ideas?

Per scrooks link, I changed the DNS in the manual setup of my ATV2 Network to that of my isp (Found within the router settings) and no change, Netflix Stopping all the time with "An error occured loading this content. Try again later." I'm fed up with this bull. Any other suggestions? Have done all the other suggestions like rebootong and unplugging (That sh@t don't work.) I'm left to think either an overload of Apple's Servers trying to connect all the Netflix Customers or an Overload of Netflix Servers. I don't seem to have this problem with my xBox 360 or my PS3 Netflix watching so I'm thinking it's apple. I have a steady 20Mbps speed.

I don't know if this has been mentioned on this thread, but I discovered something that seems to have fixed all my netflix streaming problems. My internet is supposed to run at 15Mbs, but after running a speed test, I usually run at 10-14Mbs wirelessly. I've read that if you want to run in HD, you need at least 8Mbs, but streaming from Netflix still froze constantly, especially at night. I shouldn't be having any streaming problems, but I was. I didn't have any problems streaming Netflix when I would plug my wireless Macbook Pro directly into my HD tv. But something about AppleTV makes it harder to stream from my router. So whatever.

Here's what I did:

So if you sign into your Netflix account online and go to Your Account & Help>Settings>Manage Video Quality, I switched mine to "Good Quality (up to .3 GB per hour"). Nothing was selected before, so I assume it was playing in "Best Quality (1GB per hour, or 2.3 GB per hour for HD)" by default. Ever since I changed this setting, I haven't had a single Netflix streaming hiccup. It's not streaming in HD, but the picture still looks good, and I'd rather have a good picture with no hiccups than an HD picture with constant hiccups and freezing.

This may have been brought up before, but its not a setting I noticed till recently. It works perfectly with my setup, and I imagine it has to work for others out there. So hopefully this solves some of your problems streaming Netflix wirelessly from your Apple TV.

As I said in my response, it's not just NetFlix that's messed up with the new update. I have consistently had things streaming from my Mac also fail in the same way. Based on the timing and other discussions, this is clearly a problem in the latest update. Just because you haven't had a problem doesn't mean there isn't a problem -- the issue is sporadic enough that the update made it through Apple's testing. Maybe you will be lucky and never see the problem before Apple gets a fix out.

To reiterate, the "an error occurred loading this content" problem we're seeing with the latest Apple TV OS release is NOT related to the OpenDNS issue.

I never know if Netflix will work on my ATV 2, and this problem did start right after the last update. I can get "an error occurred loading this content" or "Netflix unavailable. Please try again later". Other times it works perfectly, or the sound and picture may be considerably out of snyc.

If I change to my Roku box, it always works flawlessly. Apple obviously broke things with the ios 5 update. As always, they refuse to admit when they're at fault ... but then again, they don't get any $$ when you stream from Netflix.
