Iphone 4 light stays on

I just got an Iphone 4 couple of weeks ago, and just the other day the camera light comes on and will not turn off. I had a flashlight app and opened it and tried turning it off and then on again but got no where. So then I deleted the app and hard reset the phone but still nothing. So I let the phone die hoping that the light would go out. Well it has been 15 hrs since my phone turned off and the light is still on. It is much dimmer than before but I can't believe that there is still juice in the battery. Does anybody have any ideas. Thanks

Mac, Mac OS X (10.5.8)

To temporarily fix the problem (sound crazy) but in this case violence is the only answer up until you take a trip to the good people at Apple. By that i mean give it a good tap on your knee or gently squeeze under the volume button, it's not the best way but hey it does get annoying and can fry the battery and overheat things, what is wrong is a common defect in many iPhone 4s which is the backplate inside the phone is not seated correctly which allows it to some how turn on the flashlight.

Best bet is to take it into Apple or take off the back and re-seat the plate.

Hope this works as it did for mine, if the problem persists then they will gladly help you out or even giove you a replacement since it is a hardware fault and nothing you did to make it happen.

The service is alway phenominal, even when you have the smallest or biggest of problems they will always fix it with a great attitude and are happy to help.

Please do yourself a favor and don't beat the crap out of your iPhone 4 trying to get the LED light to turn off!! Yes this might work buy you'll probably end up breaking something else in the process... The reason it works is because apparently there is a problem with the camera module (hardware) that creates some sort of short in the wires that allows the light to stay on. The only real fix that apparent to me (after opening up my case) seems to be to replace the whole camera module... which is very easy to remove and according to a previous post I read only cost some guy $35 at an "Apple fix-it place." So if your electronic/tech handicap... take it to someone who isn't... If you have any simple tech experience... open up your case (2 screws on bottom), slide back off (downward direction) and then remove top metal cover plate (4 screws) to uncover the connector of the camera module. Once the connector is free one more screw holds the module and and poof its free... now get a new one and screw everything back in...where you might ask... IDK I'm figuring that one out myself and will get back to you...but hey at least the freaking light is OFF now!

I have been reading this post as my husbands iPhone 4 developed this problem. There was moisture in the camera lens and the back camera light was continually on as described. I tried every single suggestion posted here. Nothing worked. It is way out of warrantee so I had nothing to lose. The camera part needed replacing. Removing the camera from the phone is extremely easy. Many how to's can be found on YouTube. Purchasing a replacement part is also cheap. I managed to get one for £2.95. So far I have only removed the faulty camera whilst I wait for the replacement. The phone is back together and works perfectly fine without the camera (except the camera function obviously). On inspection, there is erosion to the connection to the camera piece. This is what makes is short and therefore the light stays on. Dislodging the erosion in one way or another may explain the temporary fix of which people speak of when they have pushed on the back and banged the phone against a table. The camera piece needs to be replaced. I also suggestion submerging the phone in rice for 24 hours to remove any residual moisture. I also strongly suggest that when fixed, you invest in a headphone socket plug to prevent further moisture entering the phone. This must be a design flaw.

My iphone 4s has not given me problems for the year and a half that I've had it. This morning my LED light also came on (for about 5 hours) and wouldn't for anything go off.

I tried:

1. Shutting down and restarting

2. Downloaded flashlight apps (2)

3. Restored and backed up and restarted

Nothing.

Then, I took out my sim card and shut it down and restarted it. Now its off (has been for about half an hour).

Its clearly not a permanent fix and Apple already asked me to bring it in when I phone them earlier as they'll have to replace the camera. Until I go in and have it replaced, I'll keep removing the sim card if the LED light does come on again, as it gets so hot that I'm afraid the heat might permanently damage the phone...
