When I try to burn a cd, it works at frist and it says *checking playlist* up at the top. but then when that bar is all filled it just freezes. What do i do?
Same thing happens to mine! I have no idea what to do. I downloaded iTunes 6 so I could buy some of the music, but now I can't burn ANYthing. Have to force the program to quit using ctrl + alt + delete. Please help anyone!!!
I'm the same - have you checked my thread on this board? Mine only freezes though when I have a downloaded track from Itunes on the playlist.
Itunes helpdesk have been no help, so I'm stuck with the prospect with never downloading anything again. I do need to check it it downloads tracks purchased from Napster though....watch this space..
Good luck
Jane
I need more information about your hardware configuration. If you haven't already, go get iTunes 6.0 and install it. Run the iTunes Help menu -> Run CD Diagnostics... command and post the results here.

Any suggestions?

We need to start with the support page for your computer, but I don't see an XPS 1000 in the list of available models. Why don't you go to
the Dell driver download page and either enter the model or download the system profiler that will tell you what your system is. (That's the link that says "Find My Service Tag".) Once we get past that we can look for updates for your computer.
Specifically, you need to look for an Intel Chipset update, any firmware updates for your drive model and a video driver update for your nVidia.
Hi everyone on this thread.
I'm glad to see that it isn't just me who has problems JUST with the playlists with the downloaded/purchased tracks on it.
I have been to my PC company and they installed the latest firmware for my motherboard, so I have nothing more to do there.
I have tried everything. I can only assume this is an Itunes 6.0 problem as everything was ok for me until I downloaded that update.
Toonz - can you help me too? Here are my diagnostics:

Somebody, please help??!! I have tried new media, slowed down the burn speed, have itunes 6.0, etc. (everything that has been suggested thus far), and I still get the same 4450 error message.
I've also seen people ask if you get your 7 burns back as a result of this ineffective process but haven't seen anyone actually answer that question. I've gone through about a dozen cd's and don't want to lose the privilege of the music as well.
What else can I do? I need to burn a cd for this weekend...
Toonz - I'm hoping you can help if I put my diagnostics on here as well. Thanks.

toonz,
I did that yesterday, but nothing has changed. I also searched for the ATA and IDE bus drivers on the support website, but couldn't find anything. Should I reinstall the software since having installed the intel chipset utility? I've heard that might work. Thanks!!! Erica 🙂

I had the same problem with 6.0. I got an unknown area and the drive froze only when trying to burn ITunes purchases. I resolved this after wasting 10 or so blanks. It turns out that ITunes was defaulting to trying to burn an MP3 file instead of an audio file. You can't burn MP3 files from ITunes purchases I guess. Once I instructed ITunes to burn an audio CD everything was fine. I did this in the ITunes Preferences Menu from the ITunes main screen.
Hi
I checked on my Itunes, but mine is already defaulting to Audio cd's, so I'm afraid that won;t help me. I was hopeful for a minute or so....thanks for posting though
