Jamieburmy,

Do you get the same problem when you select drive E as the drive you want to burn to in your iTunes burning preferences? Does drive E also hang when you put in the CD?

If you put the blank CD into drive D before you start the burn, let it settle for a minute and then press burn disc, do you get the same problem?

New to iTunes, but not new to burning CD's or software. I've uninstalled, reinstalled, rebooted, reloaded music files...... Still unsuccessful on this machine. I'm on the latest version of quicktime and iTunes.

I've attempted several times to run CD Diagnostics however it closes iTunes and sends an error message to Windows XP with a solution asking that I un-install all instances of quicktime and re-install with the repair utility in the control panel of windows XP. Done that a couple of times too....

When I click the burn disc, cd tray opens, I place in new unused Sony or Maxwell CD-R media, click burn cd again, tray closes, iTunes indicates it is "checking media" and then the burn CD Icon closes (kinda like the window on the submarine in the old movie 20,000 leagues under the sea). Nothing happens from there. No error messages, my pc works fine, I can play music from the PC through iTunes, but it will not burn the music.

Any suggesions would be most appreciated.

Hey Toonz, I tried your advice and turned on the error correction, and the problem still exist. It doesn't happen with all my CD's, only certain ones. It will still freeze when I try to import songs, generally on the first track. Once I get through the first song, everything is okay. Still open to options on how to solve this problem. It's becoming a pain in you know what. Thanks for your help so far.

I'm having the same problem on not one, but two different computers so I'm sure this is an annoying Apple problem. I can burn cds just fine as long as the playlsit doesn't include something I've purchased from the Apple music store. If it does, then after inserting the blank cd, it checks the playlist and freezes. Can I get some help? here is my cd diagnostic:

Some computers need an update to the ATA or IDE bus driver, or Intel chipset. If iTunes has problems recognizing CDs or hanging or crashing while importing or burning CDs, check the support site for the manufacturer of your computer or motherboard.

Hello All - I am having quite a similar problem with the exception of the freeze up. Any help would be appreciated!

Here is my CD diagnostic which seems to be a prerequisite (Toonz =) )

We have tried the normal troubleshooting advice.

Windows Update
Oddly enough - cant find a firmware driver for my model PC.
lowering burn speed
making sure Audio CD format is selected.

One thing I do notice is that the IMAPI.exe service (Windows CD service) will get abnormal stop requests when I am trying to burn a cd in Itunes (can be any mix of purchased or imported music).

Only started after upgrading to 6.0.1.3. Help Please!
