iTunes freezes when burning

I checked for a BIOS update but there is nothing since 2001. Here are the cd diagnostics again. I really appreciate your help - thank you.

Thanks for the tip. I upgraded my dvd drive, now I'm able to import CD's. The problem now is that the first song on the CD's only gets 6 sec. imported. The remaining songs import entirely. Any suggestions?

I am having the same problem with burning a playlist that has a downloaded song on it. I can still burn a playlist that does not have a downloaded song on it, but it just freezes up if there is a downloaded song on it.

Anybody got any suggestions?

I hope this thread isn't dead yet. Anyway I am having the same issues, my computer seems to always freeze after burning the first track. I tried looking for for updates on the sony vaio website and found an update for my CD drive. Then I tried the editing the registry from what toonz had instructed. But nothing appears to work. Any suggestions? I have attached my cd diagnostics

I haven't forgotten you. Just thinking. 4450 is general write error and is usually fixed by different media and lowering the burn speed. But you say you've tried both of those.

What speed are you burning at?
What kind of media are you using? CDR vs CDRW? Speed of media? Number of minutes in media?

Because iTunes shouldn't hang if you try to burn a MP3 CD with non-MP3 files. It should just give you a nice error message about being unable to burn and move on.

On the support page for your computer, was there anything called a chipset driver update? Try download and installing that. Also look for an update to the video driver and update that as well.

Start there. We'll try something else if that doesn't work.

Are you burning songs you purchased from the iTMS or songs you've ripped from CD or a mixture? Are you burning a CDR or a CDRW? What speed are you burning at?

I'm having the same problem as you can probably see from my posts. I've tried all that Toonz has suggested, but still no luck. I can burn stuff I download from Napster (have to put it on a cd to be able to import it to Itunes, but at least I can buy music off the Net, even if not from Itunes when there's no point if I can't put it onto a cd).
If I find out anything else I'll post it.

Thanks so much for trying to help, Toonz. Have tried all this but with no luck so I put it all back as it was again.
Do you have any more ideas? I'm still of the opinion that it's something to do with Itunes 6.0.1 as that's when this all started.
Any more help would be much appreciated as I'm no longer getting much benefit from my Ipod and Itunes as I've stopped downloading.

Where does it hang? At the beginning of the burn? When it gets to the downloaded song?

Are you running a 1 or 2 processor system?

I press burn disc, the drive opens for me to put the cd in (D) and then says checking media and then "D" just freezes and I have to control alt delete to get out.
Is that any help?

So, we're making progress. 🙂 That's good news.

Does it do this for all CDs, or just one or two? Have you tried turning on the error correction in the iTunes importing preferences?
