Sorry haven't read all the posts, seems apple feel the same way...but I found this on another forum called techreplies.com and it worked for me. Give it a shot and good luck

Try this. It worked for me. I have had to do it more than once over the last few months because the problem recurs, even with the latest iPhone update installed. I found the solution on the web, but I it was not easy, and now I cannot relocate it.

1. Unplug Iphone from Mac.
2. In iTunes, select File –> Library –> Organize Library –> Consolidate files
3. Plug in IPhone & Sync

The voice memos should be there.

Thanks to FretBuzzin advice!

Don`t worry about your memos as i did 🙂

I had a new library and I was trying to sync some of my stuff without losing anything valuable. Everything was easy but the voice memos... I was affraid sync/erase messege from iTunes. So I had to rename one of them and reconnected iPhone4, the iTunes asked me to download or download and sync the new software, which i have been putting off before my SYNCING problem and I hit "Download only" button and guess what happend?! It started syncing on it`s own! Crap, I thought, But next I see was a popping Voice memos under the Music Folder in iTunes ?! Apple without a bottle of something strong, hehe, is not a good Apple.

Good luck

Same for me. iPhone v. 5 and latest iTunes and latest OS on MacBookPro. Tried a couple of things and it's all weird. Tried to rename the voice memos in the iPhone, no use. When connecting to the laptop, under the iPhone its Voice Memos folder, the Memos I want are not listed. After trashing Voice Memos in iTunes, changing the voice memos in iTunes (to other genre), then trying sync again and again, switching on and off the "include Voice memos, sometimes it does download all Memos (iTunes then creates new Voice Memos folder). Problem is, haven't figured out yet the right "trick". Frustrating. And dangerous because I might lose the important Voice memo on the iPhone.

I tried the tip of svenxtian but also cleaned out in iTunes any voice mail and the Voice Mail folder. Connected the iPhone, clicked "include voice memos" and it downloaded ONLY the last memo (that I needed most). Still, under the iPhone in iTunes, that memo does not appear. In principle I would expect that the sync should download all existing memos in the iPhone. Maybe somewwhere there is a hidden cache or memory that messes that up.

As I am using Voice Memos every day, been trying hard. Still not clear but I am getting around anyway. Seems the best approach is to delete all voice mails in iTunes, delete the Voice Mails folder and then also check under home/music/iTunes if there are still any files existing as Voice memos. Then make sure they are gone. After importing Voice Memos I simply tranform them into MP3, keep them as anything but "Voice Memos" (genre) and even re-import them into the iPhone under a new folder/genre. Then when I connect the iPhone, I try to click / unclick under Music / include Voice memos, then synchonize. Then iTunes suddenly makes a new Voice memos folder, might complain about some missing Memos but downloads the new memos.

Might sound complicated but I've got used to it by now and it works pretty fast.

Making a new MP3 of the Memos: I change them from 64kb to 32kb quality and that seems for me more than enough, making the file sizes also smaller. Don't forget to rename the genre etc. The files sit then in "Gilbert's iPhone" within home/music/iTunes, not directly under the name of the new folder.

Hopefully Apple will correct this soon.

I record voice memos regularly, each being 1-2hrs so can't email them. I used to sync to my PC until 10 days ago with no problem. It doesn't sync it anymore. I had already updated my iphone 4 software more than 2 weeks ago so there is no conflict on that either. I did all the suggestions above but still can't sync.

Has anyone tried going to the apple store? I unfortunatelly will not have time to go so it'd be great if any apple customer rep replies.

Anyhelp?

I work on MAC so can't say anything on PC issues. I continue to use my above tricks every day as I have to save Memos every day. As said, I am myself not clear why and how the trick works. What I failed to mention is you need to quit and restart iTunes in between the process. After cleaning out everything in iTunes related to the Memos, click the box to "include Memos". Then sync. No memos downloaded. Unclick the box. Quit iTunes. Relaunch. With the box UNCHECKED sync again. The memos are downloaded. I know, does not make any sense but I got 14 Memos downloaded this way! (BTW: I have all the latest software installed both for MAC and for iPhone4

Same problem here on an iPhone4 with iOS 5.

Come on Apple, please explain why people have been encountering this problem for months. Why bother shipping the phones with a prominent 'Voice Memo Recorder" app installed on the home screen, if there is no convenient way to transfer your voice memos off the phone? (excluding the "email yourself the memo" laughable solution.)

UPDATE:

I have solved this problem, (as someone else did further up this thread) by using Macroplant Phonedisk, which basically allows you to browse your iPhone as a regular list of folders like with any other normal non-Apple device, and something which iTunes is apparently designed to prevent you from doing.

The missing memos are in a folder called "Recordings" which Apple don't want you, the user, to see.

This message will no doubt be mysteriously deleted soon.

I encountered this problem for the first time today, after successful syncing of voice memos for the past two years. I tried several of these solutions; nothing worked for me except emailing myself the files.

Then I looked in the iTunes Music folder on my Mac. All the apparently missing voice memos were in the Voice Memos subfolder.

So the problem wasn't that they weren't being uploaded to the Mac; the problem was that they weren't being added to the Voice Memos playlist. There's an easy workaround for that: in iTunes, choose "File/Add to Library" and select the Voice Memos subfolder.

Another response up above reported the same thing; it may not solve the problem for everybody, but it's definitely worth checking.
