6g nano will ONLY charge when attached to PC (??)

I bought the 6g nano to replace an ipod video classic and found out too late that the nano does not charge while playing on any of my ipod accessories. How INCONVENIENT! I am going back to see if I may be able to return it in exchange for an ipod that will charge other than on via USB to PC. Trained sales people should point this detail out at the the point of purchase. I feel deceived. Yeah, I know that they have the wall charger (like I want to tote one of those around as well). Such a waste of energy to power a pc just to charge a nano! What's your deal Apple!? Care to extrapolate this to your carbon footprint? Thumbs down on the 6 gen Nano.
