Apple TV2 doesn't work with Home Sharing

Internet works great (can access Netflix and rent movies on iTunes) but I can't connect to my computer. (I'm using Windows 7) Here's what I've tried...

1)Made sure I'm running the current version of iTunes.
2)Uninstalled Norton and made sure no firewalls are blocking anything.
3)Opened the two ports on my router that iTunes uses.
4)Reset my Apple TV.
5)Turned home sharing on and off and tried opening and closing iTunes.
6)Made sure all sharing is on in my iTunes preferences.
7)Plugged my Apple TV directly into my computer.

Can someone please help? Any suggestions would be appreciated. I haven't been able to find anything on the apple forums that have any sort of solution that works.

Thanks a bunch!

I too had this issue when I hard wired my Apple TV 2. I had no issues at all using it over wifi with my airport extreme. I felt I didn't have a whole lot of time and called apple. So embarrassed to say I paid $40 to find out my iTunes library and my apple TV were on two seprate IP addresses, a common problem when using a modem and a router, etc, etc...

First things first, unplug the ethernet cable from your apple TV and check your settings under Setting>General>Network. Note the IP address.

Secondly, plug the ethernet cable back in and check your settings. Setting>General>Network - are they the same or totally different? If they are different you most likely have an issue where your iTunes Homeshared Library is running off of a different IP Address than your Apple TV.

I hope this will clear things up for both Windows and OS X users. Let me know if it works for you! Good Luck
