iTunes - Network Connection Time Out

I installed iTunes for the first time last week and it was working fine. I had some virus activity going on after the installation and after my antivirus software detected it, it seems to be gone. Then I had issues connecting to the internet with firefox and had to change my proxy setting. Since then, I have not been able to access the iTunes store. I am getting the following error message: iTunes could not connect to the iTunes store. The network connection timed out. Here are the results from the diagnostic test:

Forgive me, but what is BT? Here's the system I'm running:

Windows 7, Kaspersky antivirus, and Linksys WRT54G V1 router.

I've called been in constant contact with Apple via email and they have done nothing at all as of yet to help this situation. I've called my ISP, and they had no idea. I called Linksys, and they tried to sell me stuff. I'm at my wits' end with this issue.

I've added iTunes to the program list for Windows Firewall and for Kaspersky Antivirus.

Thoughts?

OK great news. If you have Kaspersky, this might be helpful to you:

Go to Settings, then Threats and Exclusions. Under Exclusions, click Settings. Click Trusted Applications. Click Add, and select iTunes.exe.

Go back to Settings, then Network. Click Select. You'll see two drop menus, one with Ports, and the other with application names. Add iTunes to the bottom one with application names.

I don't know if the second one is necessary, but I did both and now my wife's iTunes is working fine.

If you have other antivirus software, I'm sure there's a comperable set of actions.

I hope this helps at least some of you.

I also have the network connection timeout. I have a macbook pro 13. Have all the latest updates and have not been able to download any apps. I can download podcast, audio and video, but iPhone apps I get the network timeout. On my iPhone 4 I get an icon with Waiting... This is an Apple / iTunes problem. Everything was fine on the 13 of Oct. Now it has been 3 days and I can't download apps. Please fix.

Ps. I am a computer tech, have worked at apple as a specialist, have had macs over 10 years and am well versed on OSX and the iPhone.
