Hi Mark ... gosh that was quick & easy !!

No probs here on 32 bit - loaded up a huge 5.1 project with surround mix - totals around 9 gig RAM including PLAY / KONTAKT memory servers - loading seems quicker - no Groundhog day continual reload problems which normally happens immediatley after deleting several tracks or editing when you get close to the edge of Logic RAM max ...... 239 tracks including audio and midi V.I.s (plugins in logic host - not external) ..... a large mix ..... all working happily ....... hurrah!

Flippin Nora -!! Absolutely fabulous. I'm now wondering if i ever want to move OSX and bother with 64 bit? One of those Eureka moments that i've been waiting for since moving from Logic with Protools TDM Hardware to a MacPro in May 2008. Maybe there will be something that I've not yet discovered that's been lost in the fire ....... I do hope not.

Give it a go (BTW are you the M.R. with very cool music ...... ?)

Yes, that's me. Just in the middle of doing some 5.1 mixes and wondering if i'm mad to do this mid project, or, like you say, i'm going to notice some huge advantages...

I've just done that self same thing as I've been running up 12 gig RAM loads regularly and found my self waiting half the day as the V.I. Kontakt & PLAY samples re-load & reload ....... it was all manageable until the large Hollywood String instruments arrived on the scene. This bug was listed in the L9.1.2 list as fixed so I've taken the leap .....!

BTW - as your so cool I'm so hot and I thing we share the same buck(?) We have much in common and bumped into one another a couple of times!

I'm trying not to sound ignorant, but this update has me a little confused.

I have a Mac Pro 8-core 3.0GHz Intel Xeon and a Macbook Pro 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo. Are any of these machines affected by the update?

I'm not familiar with turning HT off or on. Do I need to turn it off/on?

The problem should only be on quad machines, either 2009+ MP or imac i7.

Any other machine, 2 core, 8 core or 2008 quad shouldn't have it.

Updated to 9.1.2. All seems fine...working well..

Just wondering why Apple would release an update that cripples so many machines.

Hopefully another update soon that will sort things out.

Good show Mark ........ it's a frightening thing to do half through an important project but I think it's actually worth the upgrade in this case ..... after just couple of hours use, it's certainly saving me time due to the loss of Groundhog Day re-load problem alone ...... but everything seems slightly better optimised ......... good luck with it all !

There is also much less CPU spiking now, even with big projects at low buffer sizes like Aether Reverb at high quality settings, this upgrade totally convinces me so far...

Fix for ALL Macs:

defaults write com.apple.logic.pro MD_AllowVirtualCores -bool yes

I just tried it on my i5 MBP 2.4 and now Logic is showing ALL cores, both physical and virtual, a total of 4.

Now I get the same performance without having to turn off HT all the time!

Just tested it and it works great on my eight core.

On the benchmark before I was getting 70-80 tracks, after this I was able to get it up to 112.
