Email receiving problems

I have had my iPad for 2 weeks but can't get email to work.
I synched my Pad with iTunes and let it synch my 3 email account settings. I can send and receive emails but the emails I receive on my iPad either come through with 2 or 3 missing, or miss a whole batch on my main account.
And on my other 2 accounts I am not getting receiving any emails.

I can send from all 3.

I then deleted all the accounts on my iPad and deselected synching email account in iTunes then sent them up manually on the iPad. I could neither send or receive anything on any of my accounts.

I have now deleted the accounts again and re-synched them through iTunes. I am receiving some but not all emails on my main email account and nothing on the other 2 and ma now at a complete loss.

When I manually set up the accounts I set them exactly as they appear on my iPhone.

I use Entourage and after looking in the account set up in Entourage there are differences in the way they are set up. Do I set them up on the Ipad same as my iPhone or as in Entourage?

I am running OS X 10.6.4
Have iPhone 3G and iPad wifi

That is entirely possible...getting into some of the more esoteric behavior of email service providers and email protocols.

As long as the system keeps behaving, is stable and you can send and receive emails, it is probably best to leave it alone and not do any more tweaks. There is a new iOS, 4.2, coming out in November, will be a free upgrade, and will have many improvements over the 3.2 versions. We will have to wait and see what goodies Apple has in store for us in email, may be some things that end up handling your current behavior.

Keep updating on your system behavior so the rest of us see what is going on...remember we are all users-to-users on here, not Apple employees. So each of these experiences helps all of us learn.

And with all you have learned from this, jump in and help others. You have gained a lot of knowledge about problem resolution this week...don't hesitate to share it with others.

Hi,

I came to the same conclusion, that it isn't an issue to take back to my local Apple retailer and I had just heard about an iPad upgrade coming which, hopefully will take away the glitches.

These discussions are excellent and really helpful and makes one feel less alone with the stuff we struggle with.

I will keep an eye on the postings and help where I can.

Thank you very much for your time.

Okay guys, hope I'm not going to jinx the situation now, but it looks like i may have got my NTL World email account to work!

You'll have to excuse the total lack of 'Tech Speak' I am a Mac user, not one who learns every single component and function of the things!

Anyway, the thread i posted up answering my own question is as follows, hope it helps:

Hey, I'm not sure how I managed to figure it out, but my email is now working fine (well it has been for 24 hours now)

I set the pop and smtp accounts in the normal manner, then made sure all SSL settings were turned off. Once that was done I used the following port settings:

POP - 110
SMTP - 25

The standard SMTP port was set to 587 in the first settings menu, however there were two other SMTP settings were set to 465. All of these were changed to 25 and low and behold - it has worked!

Time will tell if it continues, but here's hoping!
