here's why i'm asking:
i can't seem to see comments on blogs that use Disqus and by googling, it seems to me that i need an update of javascript. but i'm not a computer geek.

the problem loading comments happened all of a sudden last week. anyone know why?

The suggestion another reader made works wonderfully. Just go into Network, and create a "New Location" and call it anything you like. I called mine "Default airport". I didn't change a thing. Just saved and closed, and Safari suddenly worked like a charm again. STRANGE bug! Thanks so much to Matt Hills for posting the fix on your site. What would we do without you?

The Java Embedding Plugin is a utility that allows other web browsers than Apple's Safari to use the most recent versions of Java on Mac OS X.

I don't have Java installed on my system, so Firefox is using the embedded plug-in it ships with.

There is also a new patched Firefox 3.6.11 today.

Works in Firefox 4.0b8

Grasping at straws, have you tried these sites from another network rather than your normal network? It's possible that something in your router or your ISP is blocking access to these comments, since from what I've read they're all hosted by Disqus, not by the sites themselves. Another thing you can try is to log into Mac OS X via another user account (set one up for testing if you only have one user on your system now) and see if that does anything different.

Hope something here helps.
