iPhoto 11 ( and iLife 11) System Requirements

As you all know iLife 11 came out today with just iPhoto 11, Garageband 11 and iMovie 11. There's no iDVD or iWeb this time around.

The system requirements for this upgrade are a bit more restrictive than the previous version. *PPC Mac owners take note.* The following is from the iLife 11 page at the Apple store:

*System Requirements*

GarageBand Learn to Play requires a Mac with an Intel Core Duo processor or better.
AVCHD video from supported video cameras requires a Mac with an Intel Core Duo processor or better. Visit the iMovie ’11 Supported Cameras page for additional details.
1GB of RAM.
Approximately 5GB of available disk space.
DVD drive required for installation.
Display with at least 1280 x 768 pixel resolution.
Mac OS X v10.6.3 or later.

how long does it take for the disc to arrive in the UK?
my new mac mini arrived last monday, i sent the postal form tuesday and paid the paypal payment, and still nothing. this is really annoying me as i bought the mac direct from apple as it said it included ilife 11 on the website ( i bought it 22 Oct). it clearly didn't as i had to pay another 6 quid for the product which still hasn't arrived.

i feel cheated by apple as i could have bought the same product from john lewis and got a 2 year warranty, i only went direct as i thought ilife 11 would be on the machine. i tried using the online system but it said serial number not recognised and also asked me what city i bought it from which it wanted an answer for - there wasn't one it was apple uk! rant over but i am annoyed!!!!!

Well of course YOUR drives all work "flawlessly." But this thread is not about drives that work flawlessly. We are all asking why our's aren't working.

Perhaps you should go celebrate with the 'other' Mac users that are lucky enough to have optical drives that don't spit out discs and will actually read them. This thread is obviously addressing a condition that doesn't apply to you.

Addressing this issue, for me, meant simply buying an optical drive that Apple DOESN'T sell. If people read my comments, and don't buy Apple's optical drives because of my experience, I think this post sends a more important message to Apple than you want to accept. I don't have to directly communicate with Apple to find solutions.

Take that Apple.

Sure sounds like a comment addressed to Apple.

So, you buy a Mac with a faulty drive. Apple gets your money. Then you buy another drive and Sony gets your money. How is that sending a message to Apple? They still have the money from the Mac purchase, don't they?

But, whatever.

So if I turn around and have Apple fix my drive or purchase another one from Apple, I would give them money. And then I would be investing not only money but additional expectations in drive hardware which has already proved to be sh!tty. Why would I do that? Clearly, I don't buy Apple computers because of their optical drives. And I recommend others take the same position.
