No Backlit Keyboard? GLOSSY screen????!!!!!

Yeah.....i'm glad i returned mine when i saw it in february: gonna grab the one i was waiting for today too....

For the others: tilt your screen, tilt it, tilt it again.

What is curious is that they introduce the backlit keyboard just like if it was a new feature....my old mba first gen still has it

They don't wanna loose their face.....but i pretty sure they were facing a lot of returns on that one just because of the non-backlit keyboard........

yes but the first generation was glossy also: you get used to it at some point don't worry about that, i'm programming with it all year long and at some point it becomes a plus.....but i sincerely understand your frustration event though it doesn't touch me directly.....good luck or wait til the next gen, or buy the thick pro....

Just got it today from Apple store downtown Montreal... amaziinnnnngggggg machine!

i think they take away backlit keyboard on the 2010 MBA model just to make consumer have more reason to buy a latest macbook air every year. what a dirty marketing stradegy

Honestly i think that apple isn't worst thant the others in dirty marketing strategies, but removing the backlit keyboard was a bad idea, and i hope that the guy/team who take the decision is now, just like jou, flipping burgers at BK ......😉

I wish I had known there is no backlight keyboard on MBA, wouldn't have bought it! I also need the backlighting as this is my travel machine - so backlighting is vital for the typing I have to do. It never occured to me apple could drop that, so never again a MBA if that feature is lacking. Absolute deal breaker for me and I'm sorry to have wasted the money!

Return it. Apple has a pretty generous return policy, and it surely didn't take you longer than the return period to note that the feature was missing if it was of such import.

Does any one know if the "new" backlit keyboard would fit and work in the 2010> MBAs that didnt get this feature?

I have a MBA thats not got the back lit keyboard and i would really like it back but dont want to buy a new one again just for that!

By the looks of it the keyboard looks the same but would it phisically work?

Anyone tried it?

1. The key layout is different. The new keyboards don't have an eject key. Won't fit your case holes.

2. The logic board on your computer has no power provision.

3. I've never heard of it even attempted.

4. The mods, if made possible probably exceed the cost of a new MBA.

If the boffins can bring back Apollo 13 with some CO2 scrubbers made from spare parts & duct tape, then I'm ****** sure someone can make a backlit keyboard fit an old MBA..... Won't look too pretty mind.

I don't need the backlit keyboard, but respect the people and their reasons for requesting one. Not sure why they would of deleted that option unless they really needed to spare the power at the time. Not sure.

I'd trade the non-backlit keyboard for the debautchery that is the new Lion OS any day of the week and twice on Sunday tho...

And yet they brought the backlit keybaord with the next version.

And now with the 2012 release, Apple is actually spotlighting the backlit keyboard.

So somebody screwed up in 2010. Seriously screwed up.

I feel vindicated. Now if they would only allow Snow Leopard to be installed on newer models. (Ha, dream on, White Boy.)
