1. Every time I open it, it asks me to upgrade my photo library. When it closes it saves changes, but comes up with the same upgrade message each time.
2. It hangs when trying to import photos from a file.
3. It doesn't see my iPhone (not tried it with another camera yet, but not hopeful)
4. Cannot open books I've already made, and when I create a new book, nothing happens - other than adding a new book under the project list. However, even this disappears next time I open iPhoto '11.
I am currently regretting upgrading at all!
I have restarted the computer and tried repairing permissions.
So far I’m hating iPhoto 11. What was sold as making emailing photos easier is making it much much harder. Maybe these are small problems, but they seriously damage the usefulness of the app to me.
I can only get about two short sentences in each text box and those with tiny fonts.
Trying other backgrounds then going back to the original changes all the fonts in the text boxes so I have to change them again.
Also, where did the photos in my email photo browser go? All that is there are iSight photos. All five of them.
It’s taking forever to send. If you hit cancel it doesn’t cancel the send, it *deletes the message.* How stupid is that, after taking a lot of time to set it up then
reset it up after trying a different template…. (After 15 minutes it still hasn’t sent, though the bar is solid blue.) I think it went but since it doesn't show up in the Sent mailbox I have no way of knowing.
The email address line doesn’t pull in contacts or previously used email addresses. You have to type them anew.
I don’t give a dam about pretty layouts or templates. I just want to send photos. Please make THAT easier - maybe like it used to be.
And there is no reason why
anyone should have to go into the system to make adjustments to make this work. Maybe the geeks don’t mind that, but it is unacceptable for the vast majority of users to have to do that.
My advice to prospective buyers: Wait. I’m having buyer’s remorse.
PS: If these aren’t “real” problems, I hope I wake up soon. I got work to do.
I lost 40.000 photos when upgrading to ilfe 11. Yes 40.000. Master folder is still empty now. I try now to reinstall the things from the backup.
Hey Apple what the **** are you doing ? Are you crazy using us for beta testing software ....
ATTENTION: Please make backups before you upgrade to ilife11.
Not that I recommend this to anyone who has NOT backed up ALL their pictures, because I heart sank like a rock... but I did what Old Toad recommended. I deleted the file and it went into the trash. I next did options 1, 2 and 6, and once it came back up, ALL of my pictures had been deleted.. this is where my heart sank!!!! I quickly went back into my trash and restored the file and then selected options 1 and 6 only. All my pictures were back and my problem has been fixed!!!
I just got lucky, because I had not backed everything up. PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU BACK IT UP, but this did work for me!
I am having some PROBLEMS here...my iPhoto is not as bad as some of the other post I have seen. But whenever I go to make a book...the system is loading and then freezes my whole iLife Suite. PLEASE tell me someone at Apple is working on this, I would like to think that I just didn't waste more money here on nothing.
I have a slightly different problem with this - and wondering if anyone else experiencing this...
I have a Time Capsule that is next to my iMac where my backups are stored. Since I loaded iLife 11 and began editing Faces, I notice that the backup is constantly running. Now I am told that I have run out of space on this (1TB!) capsule and that it is deleting old backups... Not good if I need to restore photos from an earlier backup... Anyone seen this or know why? I have maybe 100GB of photos, nothing close to 1TB.
I have installed iPhoto '11 on 2 Macs and encountered same problem on both computers. Meaning that I could not create cards, and books.
The problem was that there was something wrong with the fonts on the Macs.
WIth "Font Book", select all Fonts and run "Resolve Duplicates" (Right Mouse) and that solved the problem.

I use the trash as a holding bin as iPhoto 9 never deleted photos from its trash unless you specifically told it to.
What a stupid thing to do - you caused the problem yourself by leaving stuff that should not be trashed in the trash - don't you see that when you actually read your statement?!!!
Even with a timemachine backup i lost my last two months of pictures. Timemachine didnt have enough space and decided to erase all the old backups of iphoto since ilife 11 upgraded and corrupted the whole 500Go. I was only left with a backup of a corrupted library and lost two wedding events....
NOW 62 people from my family have stopped trusting apple w their pictures.
I can't believe APPLE is not more careful with their clients PERSONAL PICTURES !!! If i did that to my clients they would fire me on the spot and never call me back
HOW COULD THIS SLIP BY THEM UNNOTICED ??????
Furthermore my i7 imac was slowed by half after upgrade of ilife.
I am having similar problems but also suffer from.
1 Missing photos
2 Corrupted GPS data meaning the map shows I took photos in Canada. I have never been to Canada.
3 Sideshow hangs.
Not what we have come to expect. It is particularly troublesome as it concerns irreplaceable photos.
Anyone got any ideas that work?
Bob
Sad thing is now I've tried it on my work Mac, I have to say I really like it, although the email thing is daft in the sense they removed the old option completely (yes I know there's easy workarounds).
