whenever I click on link, it opens a new tab but then it throws up the error saying the safari is not able to connect to the server. But, if I logoff from my account and login back thru guest account, I am able to open the same link. Any ideas why this is happening and how to fix it?

BrowserPlus_2.9.8.plugin
Move-Media-Player.plugin
nprevweb.plugin
Picasa.plugin

I think one of more of these plugins are the problem. Move them all the Trash, not the Desktop. Restart your Mac and try Safari.

You can drag them back out of the Trash later.

BrowserPlus would be my first suspect. It's caused many a problem for Safari users.

nprevweb.plugin. If you have the trial version installed, go here to their support area for help to uninstall the plugin. http://revweb.runrev.com/downloads.php

According to Google there isn't any support for Picasa for Snow Leopard as noted here: http://picasa.google.com/mac_tools.html

Move-Media-Player.plugin

That needs to go too.

Seems like OsX is awfully complicated

It's only complicated when there are third party unsupported plugins installed. Just so you know, Apple is not responsible for updating that software. It's up to the third party developers to do this.

If none of these plugins are installed in your guest account, that would account for the fact that you can use Safari there without any problems.

And don't just uncheck Login Items. Delete them. Restart your Mac. You can add them back in later when Safari is stable.
