Every time I try to check for available downloads, I'm told 'could not complete your request, error -9813.' I've found the meaning of many other error codes, but not this one. Anyone know?
I was having this problem. I tried logging in to my account from itunes and once I was inside the account I went into edit account info, made no changes, clicked done. When I tried the apps to update it work properly. I don't know how it worked, iTunes is now working for me again.
Ugh. So ridiculous. I finally received an e-mail reply from iTunes support (took 12+ hours) and they gave me the rote suggestions of emptying my Safari cache, resetting my key chain, etc.
Do they not even talk to each other or read the latest on the 9813 error?
Along with replying to her that those "fixes" do not work, I sent her to this thread, suggested she and her co-workers read it, talk to each other, and get it fixed. I also explained it wasn't on our end, but on Apple's end, and sent this as well:
Apparently the problem is the iTunes Authentication server not recognizing requests from the following:
Mac OS 10.5.x and below
iOS 3.1.3 and below
Old Apple TV (not current black one) OS?
The following seem to work:
iOS 3.2 and above
Mac OS 10.6.x
Windows (not sure which versions)
I got mine to work finally!!!! Unfortunately, I did it by going to best buy and getting the 10.6 .3 OS upgrade. $29.00 later and I am back on itunes....unfortunate that it had to cost me money to get this working!!
Try this:
- Go to
http://store.apple.com - Log in to your account
- Click on Change account information
- Make no change, just browse somewhere else
- Try logging in to your account in iTunes
Just fixed mine. I have been having the same problem for the last week "after I updated my expired credit card". I'm not sure what exactly fixed the problem I just know it is now working. ...... Go to the Keychain access program, Under the keychain access drop down, there is a keychain first aid. First I ran "verify", then I ran "repair" . I also locked the login keychain, but have since unlocked that. I unlocked, then locked the Private..., System and System Root. Hope this helps.
OK, the problem seems to be fixed on Apple's side. I can download stuff on my Itouch now. GOing to try my apple TV and mac with OS 10.5!!
Please let this not happen again. Agonizing with very little help from tech support. Very few people on this planet (especially in Apple) seem to know what is going on!
I had the same problem over this weekend ( on 10.5.8 as well ). Nothing suggested worked for me ( and don't want to move to 10.6.x on this system ) but -
just tried again and had success logging in to iTunes and making a purchase. I think the change was on the server end - when I logged in I was directed to a page where I had to reverify my account settings.
So - might be worth giving it another try, it might be resolved -
And I just received a reply from iTunes support saying that I should contact Apple Technical Support. Ya think? I replied that it has now been fixed on Apple's end and that it was Apple Technical Support that had me contact iTunes support. Sheesh.
Yep, I'm back in business too. Funny thing though, while I was locked out of the iTunes Store, I found the same music (albeit in mp3) on the Amazon Download store for 10% less! So, perhaps I should say: "Thank you for saving me money" 😉
