Error -9813

Every time I try to check for available downloads, I'm told 'could not complete your request, error -9813.' I've found the meaning of many other error codes, but not this one. Anyone know?

macbook pro, Mac OS X (10.5.8)

Upgrading to Snow Leopard seems to fix it, but that's not really the point. Not everyone can upgrade, and no one should have to pay a dime to upgrade when this is Apple's server issues.

Apple doesn't seem to read these forums, so we all need to keep the pressure on by calling, e-mailing, twittering and facebooking about this issue. Until I hear that no one is still being asked by customer service to update keychains or reinstall anything (this is NOT on our end), I'm not convinced they're truly working on it.

I have the same problem here. appeared within the last 48 hours. tried the fixes posted on other forums. ie: restore old 509Anchor file. does not work. I tried from 2 different macs (G5 and macpro). not working.

i can access to itunes stores from my iPad, iPhone and appleTV.

Sent an email to applecare regarding this. no phone support on this issue. will post is they send me a fix.

hopefully someone will have a fix sooner and post it here.

*To recap:*
*Apparently the problem is the iTunes Authentication server not recognizing requests from the following:*

*Mac OS 10.5.x and below*
*iOS 3.1.3 and below*
*Old Apple TV (not current black one) OS?*

*The following seem to work:*

*iOS 3.2 and above*
*Mac OS 10.6.x*
*Windows (not sure which versions)*

Anyone else have something to add?

So, unless you want to wait until Apple gets it fixed the only solutions seemingly are to upgrade your Mac to Mac OS 10.6 and your iPhone/iPod Touch to iOS 4.1

For those who can't do the above, Apple will happily sell you a current Mac, iPhone or iPod Touch. 😉

Note: I sent the part in bold to iTunes Support

Another one here with the same problem- on the iPod running 3.1.3 and on the MacBook running 10.4.11. Happened around the same time as everyone else. Had downloaded the Angry Birds Hallowe'en special no problem, went to update a game, got told that a secure connection couldn't be made. And on the MacBook it's the -9813 which stops me. So, yes... same as everyone else here...

Error -9813
