Just a blank page opens, no way to access contents that I can find. No tutorials or Getting Started either that is evident, even though the opening info dialog indicates one exists.

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.4)

Actually, it appears that Help is unavailable for any of the new iLife 11 series, as all have blank Help.

FYI I am trying to access Help in the normal Apple way, GarageBand/Help

i'm afraid i don't have an actual "this is the answer," but i found it took a bit of prodding to get the help files to D/L. I switched between the Getting Started and Browse options a couple of times, and eventually the files were D/Led.

I assume you are doing this from the Welcome to Garageband dialog where Getting Started and Browse for Help are located. Is this correct? In my case neither of these two options are active or clickable, therefore I can't toggle between them to prod it along.

no, i selected "GarageBand Help" from the Help menu

That is where I have been trying from the menu bar as well as trying from that Welcome, but I have no option under Help for Getting started, just:
    Search
    Garageband Help
    Welcome to gb
    Keyboard Shortcuts
    Service and Support
I tried to attach a screen shot, but no luck

    re-read my previous post

When I do that, the Help opens but it is a blank page, no help or topics or anything. All other Help for applications are shown and operative, just not any for iLife 11. It is listed, but the page is blank.

    Can we speak by phone?

assuming you don't have outgoing connections blocked by something like Little Snitch, the only thing that comes to mind is to try the oddball problem fix:

first two things to try for “oddball” probs:

(Let the page FULLY load. The link to your answer is at the top of your screen)

Same problem here. Completely blank Help window with all the iLife 11 apps.

After a few moments waiting for the blank help page to fill in, I get this error:

    The operation couldn't be completed.
    (HVURLHandlerErrorDomain error 1002.)

After seeing this Help error for all the iLife '11 apps, and the misuse of lo-res icons in the Dock, I'm guessing that iLife '11 was rushed out the door with very little thought to quality control. These simple errors would've been caught in 10 seconds if anyone had installed the shipping copy and gave it a spin. This release is not very Apple like.

Thanks Hangtime for your suggestions and very good troubleshooting site.

However, after correctly identifying and applying your tips, none worked. So I did the Apple Tech support call method, they say the issue at the first level and moved me up to Advanced Support Specialists and they also ID'ed and successfully reproduced the issue with no problem, and after numerous routines and reinstalls which I will NOT recount here, as they were all unsuccessful and I don't want you to waste time when you could be practicing.

The Specialist has all the info for his engineers to go to work on Monday, and they will be back to me, and I will quickly post their recommendation for a fix or otherwise immediately.

In the mean time go here for initial Lessons, etc.

Thanks for posting back with the info you got from Tech Support, I'll get that URL for the online help added to the FAQ later today so that it doesn't get lost, and very much look forward to hearing what solutions they come up with when they get back to you!

Apple must've fixed something on their end. I just tried getting into the help again this morning and it worked. The new help file was downloaded successfully.

Has anyone else had success with getting into Help now?
