What a convoluted mess! I loved MobileMe Galleries on my AppleTV, but with the demiss of Galleries I was looking for a solution. I had hope Flickr would be it; however, you can't view your photos unless they are made PUBLIC for eveyrone to see. Come on Apple.
My issue as well. Mobliek Me Gallery was so easy to work with and made the whole Apple experience worth it.
If Apple doens't make adjustments with the abiltiy to authenticate Flickr beyond the Public option, where do we go?
Does anyone have a suggestion.
Hi guys, not much new to add but wanted to clarify for others who may be searching other discussions here because there is some wrong info on them. As mentioned earlier in the thread... Pay cloe attention to the name you are greeted with once you are logged in to Flickr- that is the contact you are trying to add to ATV ( you are not logging into you account - that is not possible with ATV ). this is important because other discussion post have said to use some of the text in the URL you have when you are logged into you flickr account and that is just plain WRONG. also you will have to ensure that your profile settings are searchable *AND* you have some photo set to public viewing ( private photo will not display).
I love what apple is trying to do with ATV but parts need to be re-thought and made better and could all be done with a soft update - hopefully before MobileMe functionality runs out .
should be able to access/login to many more services including full Flickr (private photos too) and tumbler, Vimeo , etc etc
If you have an Apple TV and you want to view your Flikr pictures on it... the only way that it will work is:
-Login to your Flikr account on the main website(either on a laptop, Pc or iPad)
-at the top right where it says Signed in as (whoever you are).... Click on that
-Then where it says your account and directly underneath that, click the second tab (Privacy & Permisions)
-Unfortunately the big thing to consider here is that once you click on that second tab, you'll see Global settings and directly underneath that Global settings you'll see who can access your main images... NO ONE AS YOU HAVE A FREE ACCOUNT!
So to summarise, if you have NOT got the Pro account or another word you only have a FREE account then you will not be able to enjoy all your lovely pictures on your Apple TV.
Hope this help as I have haven't managed to find a single Forum with any indication why mine doesn't work.
Corrections to my last post..
up to the point "-Then where it says your account and directly underneath that, click the second tab (Privacy & Permissions)" Follow these instruction instead..
...................
Global Setting
Then scroll to the bottom or around midway, you'll see "Hide your stuff from Public searches" & "Hide your Profile from Public searches"... edit both of these to say NO.
When you search for your PROFILE on your Apple TV, ensure its case sensitive or type it in exactly how it appears on your Flikr account...
A login option for flickr on the apple tv would solve this issue, as well as the privacy problems. If you'd like you can send your comments directly to apple here:
