Having troubles with the Instant On-feature.

I bought the new Macbook Air (13", 1.86Ghz, 256GB) this weekend and I am having troubles with the instan on feature.

The problem is that when the lid has been closed, without the computer turned off, and then opened it happens that it won't get out off sleep mode. The computer stays in sleep mode even when the lid is up. It does not matter if I press any buttons it won't turn on. I have to hold down the power button until it turns off then reboot it.

This has happened a lot, out of the approximate 20 times I have closed it this has happened about three or four times.

One time when I opened the lid the screen turned on but it was completely fixed and I could not move the mouse or use the keyboard.

When I have rebooted the system I get the message saying that it was turned off due to implications and I have the option to report the problem which I have done.

What should I do now? Should I return it to the store where I got it or should I wait and see what happens?

Thanks in advance.

I would take it back to the Apple Store (consider calling ahead and making an appointment with a 'Genius')

My new Macbook Air had wakeup problems and Apple switched it out. The second one had the same problem.

I found out the crashes were from Adobe Flash - I had been running safari with multiple windows open when I would put the computer to sleep.

I erased the hard drive, reinstalled the system - no crashes for four days. I installed Flash and 3 crashes in 36 hours. I deinstalled - no crashes.

I now have installed a program ClickToFlash and Adobe flash. The flash software doesn't activate unless you click on the flash program in a web page. I close out any running flash before putting the computer to sleep and I no longer have any flashes.

All -

I bought a 13.3" Air on November 19th and it and its replacements have been unreliable pieces of garbage, even with the firmware update. The three machines have crashed ten times in total and the one I am using now has almost nothing installed on it. I thought maybe the problem was the stuff I was installing, so I have only put a few things on this machine:

1. Adobe Flash (many people have speculated that this is the problem, but I do not think I have had Flash websites open every time the computer has crashed);
2. PostgreSQL 9.0; and
3. A small folder with about 25 text and PDF files which relate to the work I am doing right now. The other 99%+ of my data is on my old computer.

I asked one of the people at the local Genius Bar to submit my kernel panic logs (from my last machine) to some engineers in Cupertino. He said he would and promised to call me within two business days. It has been four business days, no call, and he is not working today.

The people at the toll free help line and in the Apple stores have been very nice, but they have been totally incapable of solving this problem.

It seems my only option is to return this machine. Getting a FOURTH MacBook Air is unlikely to solve anything.
