iTunes store temporarily unavailable?

I am getting the following message when I click to open the iTunes store:

"We could not complete your iTunes store request. The iTunes store is temporarily unavailable. Please try again later."

Is anyone else having this issue?

Thank you.

In hope that someone is still reviewing this discussion from time to time, I ended up starting a live chat (http://www.dominikras.com/2012/11/the-itunes-store-is-temporarily.html) with a support rep who "magically" solved my issue.

There must have been some sort of back-end misconfiguration of my account that only admins could clear up. thumbs up for the live chat option.

Here is what worked for me for the following error messages:

"iTunes could not establish a secure connection"

or

"iTunes unknown error (-50)"

1. Signed out of your Apple ID on iTunes > Close iTunes completely (cmd+Q).

2. Go to System Preferences > Network > Delete your network connection (Ethernet or WiFi) by selecting it and clicking the minus sign. Click Apply/Save. Then click the Plus Sign and create your Network connection (Ethernet or WiFi). Wait for it to establish connection and then click Apply/Save.

3. Open iTunes, Sign in with your Apple ID.

After completing those steps I was able to login without any error messages. I also ran a Memory/RAM free up App called "MemoryFreer" in-between steps 2 and 3 but I'm not sure that made any difference.

Ok i just finally fix the problem, this is how it worked for me: Firstly i attempted to make a new account several times but only reaching to the part after you accept the apple term, in which then they ask you to write an email and so on... then i canceled the process by clicking the "cancel" button at the bottom. (i did that several times and i really dont know if this part of my fixing process have to do with the solution that i reached by the end but i just want to tell you all the steps to increase the chances of you to succeed) Then i went to the app store and tried to buy a random app (pixel gun 3D, to be specific) and when the prompt box that ask fo you to log in appeared i tried to do so with my user and pass. It didn't lt me (with the same error) but then right after that i hit the "sign in" buttom on the left top of itunes and tried again and it let me in, just randomly, i dont know if any of the things that i did fixed anything, but what i do know is that by the end of those steps, i ended connected to my apple account. Hope this works for you too, let me know.

I get this same error every time on my Windows 8 machine (latest Windows and iTunes 11.0.5.5). I can open the iTunes store page in iTunes, but checking my account, and checking for available downloads always fails. Yet, the iTunes network diagnostics PASS. Sure seems like iTunes on Windows 8 is broken.

I just got it to work:

o Killed iTunes with <F4>
o Launched iTunes again
o It asked me for my Apple ID, but when I selected the first entry, and entered my Apple ID, it said that I must complete the ENTIRE form. Seems screwed up, would not let me proceed.
o Went to 'View Account'. It accepted my Apple ID and password, and actually showed my account information for the first time

Now, it appears that everything is working aok...
