iTunes store temporarily unavailable?

I am getting the following message when I click to open the iTunes store:

"We could not complete your iTunes store request. The iTunes store is temporarily unavailable. Please try again later."

Is anyone else having this issue?

Thank you.

Hello Everyone,

I am also having the same problem! I have older version of iTunes, I never thought to update it because I was just fine with what version I had. Know the this error that comes up and states "your requested item is not available in the US". This is when trying to enter the homepage and last time a check I am in the US. Someone also states that they can still search for music and buy; I am the same way that is all I can do. I can not even go and update my balance on money have to buys songs. Has anyone given anyone a solution to fix the problem?

I have been having a similar problem as well, in addition to an unauthorized purchase on my account. I have submitted a trouble ticket to Apple as follows. I will be updating this forum with the response I receive.

I received an email yesterday (November 11, 2010) from PayPal concerning a charge of $3.22 from the iTunes store. Upon logging in to my iTunes account and looking at past purchases, I do not see a purchase totaling this amount. I have tried to expedite the handling of this problem by calling your telephone support line, but the only recourse is to send electronic communication through your website. It took your support staff longer to explain to me how to get to this web page than it took for me to explain my problem to her in the first place.

In addition to the problem above, a new problem has reared its head this morning. I am now unable to get into the iTunes store at all. When attempting to gain access to the iTunes store, I am now greeted with the message: "Your request could not be completed. The item you've requested is not currently available in the US store.

As a side note, I am not upgrading my software at this time. If this issue cannot be resolved without a software upgrade, I will discontinue my use of the iTunes store.

My phone number is **-***-***. You can also reach me toll free at **-***-***.

Thank you for your assistance.

Sincerely,
*** ***

Please don't update to itunes 10 if your stuff is old like mine. I initially thought it might be the cause of not getting into the store - 10 isn't compatible with Tiger OS. I've only just registered after having a Mac for years. I did use the forums for info years ago. It used to be such a happy place!

Anyhow I got in via - Store pull down menu; Search.. option; artist name (Springsteen or Christine Schäfer); click on artist name on right; then click on genre (rock or classical in these cases). The home house icon and the music icon are still not working and give the 'we could not complete...store is temporarily unavailable' error message when clicked, but the itunes STORE menu on the left does seem to give access to the app store, music videos, other genres.. I'm logged in with my itunes id automatically. I haven't bought anything yet, and this is with itunes 8, but... I hope work around is some help.

Thanks for the info. I tried flushing the DNS and it didn't work; I still get the same "temporarily unavailable" message. But then I have a different operating system than you. From what I understand, some fixes don't work with other people, and many of them do not work at all.

Oh, well, I can still get around the issue for now accessing through podcasts, but if that goes one day, too ... all I can say is that iTunes isn't the only music service out there. I was going to purchase an iPod but now I think I'll just get an MP3 player instead.

Adding my two cents to the discussion:

iTunes and Ping not working on my end. I'm using an iMac and MacBook Pro with 10.6.4. Everything was fine with the "old" iTunes that I had yesterday. This morning, I did the iTunes software update and suddenly nothing is working. This is definitely a problem on Apple's end, whether they admit it or not. We're all having the same problems at the same time---pretty obvious. I also got a Ping error message that told me something about an issue with my Windows computer (I am 100% Mac and have never owned a Windoze). The iTunes store also told me that my password was wrong---which it is not. I reset the password to the same one that it already was---still not working. Come on, Apple.....geez.

I also have an iPhone 3GS, and just a moment ago I did an App Update for 4 Apps, and it worked just fine.

You can try to redeem the card on a iPod Touch/iPhone. I have noticed that there is now a "redeem" option at the bottom of the page in the App Store and iTunes application on my iPod Touch.

On my PC I can access everything in iTunes except for the Application Store. Been like this for 3 weeks now. Luckily I can still access it on my Touch.

Hope this helps
