Can't update apps - 'cannot connect to itunes store'

This is what I've been getting all weekend on my iPhone 4 (4.1).

My Mac's iTunes also has been unable to deliver updates (OSX 10.6.4; iTunes 10.0.1); I can purchase and download iTunes music/videos just fine; but the check for app updates just spins for a bit and returns nothing.

*But my iPad can see and download it's app updates just fine!*

Any hints/suggestions? I've rebooted and logged in/out of my store account but that doesn't seem to fix it. Everything was working fine until this weekend....

I have found three apps that are corrupted not mentioned in this thread yet. I have over 2,500 apps in iTunes. I pulled out 900 of them before I could update. now I'm slowly putting them back in alphabetically. I'm not even passed 'A' yet and have found 3 apps that are bad. Aftermath, AppMiner, Assassin's Creed: Altair's...

Really frustrating to add 10 in at a time and have it not work, then have to go through one at a time and find which one is bad.

There needs to be a fix for this. I can't add 900 apps back in 10 at a time, just to be able to update them all.

All my apps are on a Mac Mini. I can buy apps, music, etc.... but I can't update. It says the server is temporarily unavailable ( even as I am buying something). I have over 1000 apps and this is really unnerving. I don't really feel like adding them back in one at a time! Moreover backing them up to a disk is not available for me. I can back up to a NAS but that is not an option with the way iTunes works, or at least it wasn't the last time I checked.

Did anyone ever figure this out for the folks who don't have any of the listed apps that created the problem? I also deleted tons of apps and have yet to get back to successfully loading the app store/iTunes store; it's frustrating. Nonetheless, I am restoring right now and I hope that solves it. If anyone else has figure this out - something Apple has yet to do - please post ASAP as I am more or less in distress about it all.
