iTunes no longer checks for App updates

About 2 weeks ago I noticed that when looking at Apps in my library and hitting "Check for Updates" I was never seeing any apps that needed updated but my iPhone and iPad kept getting updates for apps. I watched this and noticed that after hitting Check for Updates in the app library section it flashes "accessing iTunes store..." very very fast. Just to read that I have to hit the update several times. If I click the Get More Apps next to it i go to the app store.

I can search and purchase apps on iTunes. I can look at my iTunes account and redeem gift cards and the help-check for updates works because it found the 10.1 update today and I installed it. Everything seems to work fine in the previous version and 10.1 except checking for app updates. It seems like it can't access the iTunes store here.

Two other computers (kids) in my house with iTunes work. I've disabled norton and it stil doesn't work.

Can anyone help me?

I agree. If certain apps had broken the App Store update process, it'd have been big news as it would be a very effective Denial Of Service attack.

All working fine for me too. Reinstalled Ship Finder yesterday and have got around 10 updates on both iPod Touch and iTunes since. Let's hope Apple has fixed the underlying issue, although looks like some may still be having trouble ...

I am having this exact same problem on two different computers (one with Vista and the other with the latest OS X). I have none of the aforementioned apps in my library and over 500 to go through. I have an iPhone with iOS 4.1 and that's updating fine, so I'm guessing it's an app I don't have on my phone. Any help would be appreciated, Apple.

I found an app with is causing the update bug on my itunes (haven't crosschecked with the iphone yet).

The app "Shopper - Shopping List" 8.6.5 or 8.6.6 has stopped my update process.

After going through 800 apps i could isolate this app.

Hope this helps anyone who has the problem in the last days.

Ps: After deleting and downloading a new copy of the app, the update is still working! For me it is fixed now.

I am having this problem as well, and frankly I have to be honest - the lack of support from Apple on this issue is not only astounding it's also unacceptable. I'm extremely customer service oriented and to me it just seems like Apple could be more responsive on these issues. I don't have time to go through 100's of apps to sort out which one is causing the problem, nor should I have to. I see all sorts of things that just seem to sit around for months or even years and never seem to get answered or resolved on these forums. I just don't understand how a company that is so good on creating wonderful products can have these issues in supporting them. It seems like such a huge disconnect. The support side of things should be just as stellar as the products are!!!!

I've been having this problem for more than 24 hours now. I've been trying to update the apps on my iMac and I get the same message mentioned here. I don't have the "Find Ship" app or the "Pee Monkey Toilet Training," but I do have "Pee Monkey Plant Blossom" which is a different version from the same developer. I tried deleting both that and "Appshopper" and restarting my iTunes but it didn't do any good. It shouldn't matter if you delete them from your phone if you are only trying to update the apps on the computer, right?

I really wish that there were more suggested apps to try because I am an app collector and I have over 2600 of them, so there is no way that I can find the culprit by process of elimination. If anyone has any other app suggestions it would be greatly appreciated, because something tells me that the brainiacs at Apple aren't very hard at work on a solution for this.

Yesterday evening I still had some updates in iTunes on my MacBook, this morning none. Even on my iPhone 4 it says that all my apps are up to date but I'm sure that isn't the case.

I don't have the apps (Ship Finder, Monkey, Pee, etc) mentioned above installed and don't know what to do. Is there a chance the problem will just disappear on its own without deleting and reinstall all the apps in my iTunes library?
