iTunes no longer checks for App updates

About 2 weeks ago I noticed that when looking at Apps in my library and hitting "Check for Updates" I was never seeing any apps that needed updated but my iPhone and iPad kept getting updates for apps. I watched this and noticed that after hitting Check for Updates in the app library section it flashes "accessing iTunes store..." very very fast. Just to read that I have to hit the update several times. If I click the Get More Apps next to it i go to the app store.

I can search and purchase apps on iTunes. I can look at my iTunes account and redeem gift cards and the help-check for updates works because it found the 10.1 update today and I installed it. Everything seems to work fine in the previous version and 10.1 except checking for app updates. It seems like it can't access the iTunes store here.

Two other computers (kids) in my house with iTunes work. I've disabled norton and it stil doesn't work.

Can anyone help me?

I receive updates again in iTunes and on my iPhone 4!

Just log out in the iTunes store on your computer, quit and restart iTunes, log in and all of a sudden everything works again. This wasn't the case this morning, but now it works!

You are lucky that this worked for you, but I have tried doing this several times and it doesn't fix anything for me. I can still connect to the iTunes store to purchase anything that I want, but it just won't let me connect when I try to update the apps that I already have. I am still hoping that there are more people who are willing to identify more apps that are causing this problem by using the process of elimination mentioned earlier. Like I said earlier, since I have more than 2600 apps, it would take WAY too long for me to try that myself. So far, I have 295 updates that I can't get to, and the number is rising every day. All I can think of to say is... HELP!

This has just happened to me so if anyone has an answer i would appreciate it as well...For the longest time on my iphone there would be a number in the upper right hand corner of the app store icon showing how many apps were in need of an update. As always i clicked on it to update them and all of a sudden it states "All apps up to date" Same thing happens on the laptop when i log onto itunes.I also tried logging in and out of the store with my apple ID and nothing changes...NOTHING!!! Still says all apps are up to date.I know this is impossible because at the very least I have 30 apps that are not up to date...What is happening.

back on 17-nov-2010 i had this problem and deleted the pee monkey app as instructed in this forum. and it solved the problem.

but my christmas present this morning from my iphone is that the problem is back. just last night it listed about 20 apps to update. now this morning "all apps are up to date". it must be a christmas miracle. or fail. so sick of this.

I do have the same problem. On my iPad, the red icon of the AppStore was indicating me that several apps need to be updated. Today, when I clicked on the apps sections in iTunes, it said all apps were up to date (I compared with some in the app store, they are not!).

When I hit the Updates button on my iPhone or iPod I receive the same message.
I do not have any of apps identified to cause problems mentioned above installed.

Any ideas?

My problem has changed, but it hasn't gotten any better. I can see that I have many updates (I'm over 250 now) because it shows the number in that bubble next to 'Apps' in my iTunes library menu. Before today, every time I tried to update my apps on my computer, it would load the request for 30 seconds or so, and then return with an error message saying that I couldn't connect to the iTunes Store right now, even though I never had any problem connecting to the store when I tried to browse apps or purchase something. I would never get any further than that and it was like that for days.

Now, each time I try I get a different response. Sometimes I get the error message mentioned above, but sometimes after I push the update button, the number next to 'Apps' in the menu disappears and it tells me I have no updates, but then when I push it again, the number comes back. And sometimes, after I push the update button, I get the next window that says "You have updates available for some of your apps, would you like to download them now?" and I think that it is finally going to work, but when I click on 'yes', it takes me to the next window, where suddenly it changes it's mind and says that there are no updates available for my account. So, to sum up, now I get at least 3 different responses at random intervals, and none of them lets me download the new updates to my computer.

I am also still trying every day to sign out of iTunes, quit iTunes, re-launch iTunes, and then sign in again, but that solution STILL is not working for me, so it is not a universal solution.

Again, all I can do is end my message with a plea for help, because I cant think of anything else to try and the problem just seems to get worse every day.

I am having the same issue with Itunes. It no longer checks for app updates even though my phone is saying they are available. I can update through the phone which I have been doing for 2 weeks but some programs are over 20MB and need the computer and or wireless (which I do not have).

I have tried the log out of store, restart Itunes and log back in with not success. I take it apple does not monitor the forums?!?!? User uploaded file
