Apple Event: May 7th at 7 am PT

Looks like no one’s replied in a while. To start the conversation again, simply ask a new question.

Different sounds for different email accounts ?

Could you please add a feature to the iphone4 OS where you can customize the ringtone, or sound, for different mail boxes.

I have numerous email accounts attached to my iphone4, and some email accounts are much more important than others.

1) Do the developers intend on introducing different ring tones or sounds for different events ?
2) Is this even possible to do?
3) What about different ring tones for different people?

The blackberry did a wonderful job at this, and honestly I'm really not liking that you cant customize the sounds.

iphone 4, iOS 4

Thank you for illuminating us. We've all been eagerly awaiting your declaration of the iPhone as it occurs to you.

Time for you to read the 2nd post in this thread!

Hey modular747... How about you go and check your sarcastic attitude == how about YOU go and read MY message AGAIN. The statement was rhetorical -- I'm sorry you didn't get it, I assumed someone on the Apple support forums like yourself would have that level of comprehension. You also contradict yourself. You should really take your own advice and go read Post #2 in this thread, or you can prove me right and come back here like a troll and post sheerly out of ego. Or you can just get lost seeing as how your "valuable input" has accomplished nothing, as I'm sure it usually does, judging by your eagerness to jump in with your quick wit, or rather lack thereof.

rob.beal1391, thankyou. I don't know if this procedure is in any manual or "how to" but I would not have thought to look under Notifications either. But that's what this support forum is for, so the system actually worked (albeit it took some time), thanks again -- your input is valuable. Cheers.

Its not a difficult request, and perfectly reasonable, feasible, and useful feature to ask for. So those complaining can check your attitude. The mighty iPhone should have this feature.

There is nothing "rhetorical" about that statement. (You might want to look up the word "rhetorical" - it applies to questions, not statements.) In fact, the tone is demanding and entitled, and flaming those who told you this is not the place to demand (er, request) features.

I'm sorry, modular747, that you're having such a hard time understanding my statement. Here, let me break it down, just for you.

I said "The mighty iPhone should have this feature."

Clearly, the statement is generalized. I did not specifically ask or address Apple, Inc. on this "support forum" to add a specific feature. So really there is no need for me to "go back and read the 2nd post of this thread" and like I said before, I say again, check your attitude. By "the mighty iPhone" I'm saying that since the iPhone is world reknown for being a cut above all other phones, technologically superior in so many facets to other competing phones, as is generally understood by the general public and in particular users ON THIS VERY FORUM FOR IPHONE SUPPORT, that such a feature "Should" be a part of this phone. And you're telling me you have a problem with this statement?

DUDE, CLEARLY, if you read the rest of my post, you will see that I also said this:

"Anyways, does anyone know of a way to do this?"

^^ It's a question addressed to people on this forum, asking if anyone knows of a way to do this (feature, as per the first part of the post). I thought this is what support forums were for. Correct me if I'm wrong bro.

Hey, we have to use our words, because that's all we have, in cases of misunderstanding -- as long as it takes, until there is an understanding between the two parties, right? Except, of course, if there was no misunderstanding to begin with, and it was all based on ego inflation. In that case, I say, Bravo, you get brownie points for blurting out something witty and profound (in your own head, that is).

Let me know if you have any more questions or misunderstandings about what I said, or if you have any more problems with comprehension.

But so as not to keep this thread hijacked, once again, I thank rob.beal1391, for pointing out the solution to the question in this thread.

Bob.beal1391 contributed this very helpful bit of information:

This worked! Credit and thanks to bob.beal1391.
