I must agree...I bought this tool to work free of plugs...the fact one needs a wall wort is ludicrous...had I known I would not have purchased...it probably short of a scam but is a serious shortfall...you konw the apple store won't take this back soooo...I feel betrayed and the comment saying "don't but Apple if you don't like them ...maybe you will refund my money?

I actually asked that very question when i was on the phone with apple care. I was told that to charge an ipad from a pc it must be connected to a high power usb port. They said some of the usb ports on a pc dont supply adequate power to charge the ipad.

It does not need a wall wort, it charges fine off any USB port, just more slowly(which is better for the battery anyhow) That is the scam.

.....and what they told you is not true. It will charge fine off any USB port. They are telling you this to sell you more expensive attachments.

Ok then, believe whatever you want. I was just passing along what I was told. And they weren't trying to sell me anything!! If you're that skeptical why do u even buy an apple product? It may charge the ipad but i don't want to wait until my next birthday to use it again!

Try it, you will see, it charges fine. Don't be a sucker.

Again: the charger is supplied with every iPad in the world. It is not an extra that has to be bought. You cannot buy an iPad without one. How does this make a scam?

So you can charge in more than one place. So you realize you don't need to charge when you are hooked to a computer or a Bose system or whatever device even when it says "Not charging" even tho it is charging. Don't let the Apple religion blind you. The best marketers in the world.

What a load of Codswallop,

When you get an iPad, you are supplied a power plug to use in a wall electric outlet to charge, and even if you buy an extra long length cable and it's power plug it's no faster than the one that is supplied.

I downloaded the asus ai charger for use on my Dell xp laptop. It does increase usb charging rate on my ipad. Previously it said not charging. Now it says charging.

However now when I try to shut down my computer it stays on the blue windows shutting down screen and I have to press the power button. I can't find any documentation on the asus ai charger program to tell me whether this is normal or if there is any way to configure the program.

Are other users having the same experience?

Is this normal and should I just press the power button to complete shotdown?

Is there any documentation available?

Is it possible to configure the program and control how shut down works?

I'd appreciate any help others can offer.

Perhaps you should try Asus. This isn't really an iPad question, is it?

I found that solution here as the only effective solution for solving ipad usb charging on pc issues. It is effective for charging but I can't find info on the issues above, tried goggling, looked all over vendor site, no luck. I'm hoping others users here who have experience with it can help.

I don't want to get into the scam/not a scam argument, but Ican verify that when it says not charging, it is, in fact, charging. Plugged itin at 55% and when I unplugged it from the pc I was at 82% and all the while itread Not Charging.

If the charge rate is less than the battery drain during heavy activity, the "not charging" indicator will illuminate. If that is truly the condition of the iPad, the battery is not being charged. If you are not using the iPad (and the drain is essentially zero), then yes the battery is being charged.
