Then Turn On Home Sharing/Yes/OK
That should sort that problem or do a reset
Hope This helps
I went to Control Panel > Network and Internet > Network and Sharing
Then on the bottom left corner, clicked on 'Windows Firewall'
Then clicked 'Turn Windows firewall on or off'
make sure to turn off the network that you're connected to; home or public
All I did was quit iTunes on the offending computer and restart it after adding the media and it fixed it. Maybe you just need to restart iTunes after any settings or media change?
I had to disable the OSx firewall then it worked perfect.
I had reset my Mac, router, switched on/off home sharing, tried a different dsl connection and router, restarted the ATV, restored it, unplugged it, everything.
I have just disabled intego' anti virus barrier on my mac and its working fine.
What I would like to know though is, my ATV was working fine for weeks, with intego antivirus x6, then all of a sudden got this loading library error??
Thanks,
Hope this helps.
I saw the post about checkpoint VPN. I had that on my 6 year old ibook, and I had it installed in the past on my mac mini, but it was removed from that one. I uninstalled it from the ibook, rebooted, and now I can access my library from the ATV!
I checked on my mac mini that checkpoint wasn't there. however, I still couldn't stream from this computer. So I decided to try a fresh software install. I reinstalled 10.5, tried loading 1 cd and now the mini works too! Switched to the full library (~60GB) on a USB drive, and still everything is working. I'm still in the process of reinstalling all of my old software and still need to do the Snow Leopard to get back where I was before. will update this if one of the steps breaks it.
I had the ATV working fine after erasing and reinstalling 10.5. Everything (music, movies, photos) streamed fine. Now I know the dsl router is fine, so the airport extreme is going up on ebay 🙂
-upgraded to 10.6, still works fine
-did all the other updates(Os and application) through Software Update and still everything worked fine.
-used time machine to reinstall my applications from before..... no longer working. the pinwheel just spins forever when I load the library.
So I've narrowed it down to an application that's interfering with the ATV home sharing. off the top of my head, I suspect it's VMWare Fusion since that's the only program I have that I think would have networking or firewalls involved. I'll try to full uinstall that to see if that fixes it or else start out all over...
I can not figure out why it will work fine occasionally. When it does, it's great. But then it will stop working for days.
I have had this same problem - all night! Just figured it out. AppleTV picked up the same IP address as the VM running on my Mac - just go into the AppleTV TCP/IP configuration and MANUALLY put in an IP address on you LAN and voila! Library loads instantly!
I've had this problem of ATV2 not loading the library ever since I bought it in October last year.
I have posted many responses about it on many threads, but it still doesn't work.
I've bought a new computer, a new wireless router, and have all the latest updates, and still it doesn't work.
I've tried all the IP stuff and firewall stuff, and it still doesn't work.
I've been on to Apple support, and they can't help.
A power off reboot kicks it into life almost every time now.
I have an original ATV that works perfectly, so I tracked down another brand new one, and am using that. The ATV2 is now in the garage, where it occasionally gets used (for keep-fit videos), and switching it off and back on again isn't an issue.
I'm so frustrated that Apple make an ATV that works perfectly, then the replacement just doesn't.
Bob.
